Overlooking a private Renaissance garden, the Santa Croce Benozzo will enchant you with glorious frescoes and elegant, light filled and spacious interiors with the bonus of a working fireplace!

Each apartment features its own historic atmosphere with Renaissance murals, family heirloom antiques, and talented decorating. Many guests spend the season here, returning year after year. We also visit every year.

The Benozzo apartment can be joined with the Donatello apartment to become a 6 bedroom apartment that can accommodate 11 + 1.

Location

Conveniently located in the heart of the historical center of Florence, in Piazza Santa Croce, the Palazzo Antellesi is a landmark Renaissance Palazzo, and one of the few left in the historic center of Florence with a dramatic frescoed facade.

During late May thru late June there is noise in the piazza related to the Calico Storico, historic soccer matches. Late May is bleacher set up, June is practices and matches. If you can catch any of the play-offs (dates not advised in advance) or the final on June 24th, you'll get a lifetime treat and the "best seat in the house" is here; when you rent this apartment, you can see from the office windows. We were astounded when we watched a game from this palazzo. For more information look up Calcio Storico on YouTube or Netflix Home Game series Episode 1.

Exterior

Many people passing through Piazza Santa Croce notice Giovanni di Ser Giovanni`s 1620 frescoes on the overhanging facade this handsome building, but few realize they can actually stay here. The 16th-century palazzo is owned by the gracious Contessa, who rents out truly spacious apartments to anyone who has ever dreamed of lying in bed near a roaring fire under a 17th-century frescoed ceiling or sipping tea in a living room surrounded by trompe d`oeil Roman ruins with a 16th-century wood ceiling above.

Interior

On the third floor (American designation) of the Palazzo, with elevator up 5 steps from main entrance.

Very light, overlooking the private Renaissance garden. Elegant and spacious living/dining room with working fireplace and frescoed ceiling. To preserve the integrity of the ceiling, the hallway is separated by half-height walls with handsome columns forming the entry.

Three bedroom. The bedroom with two singles has breathtaking eighteenth century stucco and pastel decorations.

Use of the Palazzo private gym included.

Perfect in every possible way

by Christine KT

The apartment was perfect in every possible way for my husband and I and our 3 teens - comfort, style, cleanliness, spaciousness, location, safety, service and amenities. It is a large, beautifully appointed, immaculate, quiet apartment facing the courtyard in a central location, less than a 10 min walk to every major attraction, great restaurants all around, close to a grocery store and shopping. Air conditioning worked well, although we only needed it part of the time. Our greeter gave us a great welcome and advice for the area, and we felt at home immediately!

Love the Palazzo S Croce Antellesi building, the Benozzo apartment was comfortable for me, wife, and two grown sons. Extremely quiet for such a convenient location. Check in and out were hassle free, would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful property in a historic building

by Steve

We enjoyed a wonderful, albeit too short, stay in the Benozzo apartment in Palazzo Antellesi. Wonderfully and conveniently located to what we wanted to experience in Florence--just walk out the door and get to it! Francesca, one of the on-site people, was very sweet and accommodating. The apartment is elegant and well provisioned. We highly recommend a stay there and will definitely return.

We would love to welcome you back in the near future! The Italy Perfect Team

Loved the location of the apartments. We were two families staying in two apartments in Florence. We were able to walk everywhere with no issues. Pat at Italy Perfect was absolutely wonderful to work with! She gave us very helpful suggestions and advice on what to do, who to use for drivers, and arranging tours. You don't have to worry about finding great restaurants - there are a million to choose from, all within walking distance.I would definitely recommend Italy Perfect to a friend! We plan on using them again! [We are delighted to hear that you had a great stay! We look forward to your return! The Italy Perfect Team]

Just wanted to let you know we had a wonderful time in Italy in August!Thank you so much for all of your help. I also wanted to mention that the driver we had, Benjamin, was absolutely wonderful and I appreciated the recommendation. He helped make our trip even better, sharing all kinds of information with us on our long drives to and from Rome. And the tours were fantastic! Thanks again!

The location couldn't be better. Plenty of room for all five of us. Plus everyone had there own bath plus air conditioner in all rooms. Host were very accommodating and answered all questions. Only one flaw kitchen needed a few more items (soap for dishes and surfaces). Our six days couldn't have been better. [We are delighted your stay was so nice. The Italy Perfect team]

Our apartment was very comfortable, quiet, clean, and well equipped. It was located in a historic palazzo turned into apartments on the Piazza Santa Croce. Our interests were in history, art, and architecture so the location was perfect. We were able to walk everywhere and even manage one of our party in a wheelchair. There is a "super" market a few blocks away for anything from staples to fine wine. We ate well everyday in a restaurant near our morning excursions, so all over the historic area. Food was great everywhere. Our travel companions are world-class consumers of gelato and give world-class honors to the small gelateria around the corner, facing the convent associated with Santa Croce. The folks at Italy Perfect were very helpful. And, yes, I would certainly seek them out again and recommend them to friends.

Five adult friends recently shared the Benozzo apt. of the Palazzo Antellesi in the Santa Croce Plaza. We appreciated the wonderful central location, the modern kitchen, and the comfortable dining and living room furniture. The services provided by the staff were prompt and congenial. There were some Wi-Fi connection problems but Patricia actually gave us her cell number so we could text for immediate new codes when we got "bumped" from system. We enjoyed walking proximity to both central market and supermarket for our cooking supplies and both the air conditioners and washer/dryer worked great. I would definitely recommend this accommodation to friends. Benozzo is nicely situated as it has windows opening upon the central garden rather than onto the crowds on the plaza. The restaurant next door also served very nice salads when we did not want to cook. We enjoyed our stay there.

The apartment was wonderful.Very comfortable.Kitchen had everything that we needed.Plus air conditioning. Location couldn't of been better. Pat was great to work with. She really took care of all of our questions and made it so easy for us.The plaza was hosting the historical game of the “Calcio in Costume” (Historical Soccer Game)on the day of our arrival. We were met by the apartment management-our apartment faced the courtyard-not the plaza- which worked out great.Less noise. They let us watch the game from another apartment facing the plaza.Everything was within walking distance.Grocery just down the street. Can't go wrong with the apartment or working with Italy Perfect.

I travelled with my family of 10. Five of us stayed in the Benozzo while the other five stayed in the S. Croce Tosca. It was spacious with comfortable amenitites (washer/dryer, dishwasher, all kitchen appliances,tv, etc.). There were 3 bedrooms and two and a half baths. The livingroom/diningroom was very comfortable and roomy. Well-situated and we could walk to many of the sites like the Uffizi Gallery, Accademia, Ponte Vecchio, churches, Duomo, shops, and restaurants. If you need a taxi, the station is just a few steps from the apartment building. S. Croce Benozzo is in the back of the building so very quiet. Since these apartments have different landlords, charges above the rental fee may differ. You will have to pay for the utilities. [The apartments in this building are all owned by the same family and have the same policies. The guest is referring to a different wifi payment policy at another apartment elsewhere in Florence that includes wifi in the price of the apartment. Italy Perfect] Instructions ask visitors to be considerate of the residents in the building. We reminded our children (ages 10-15) to keep their voices down, especially in the stairwell and to step lightly in the apartment. Our apartment was very clean and we tried to leave it that way. This is an apartment building so there is no concierge or valet service. The elevator is small so we used the stairs. Our family liked the space after being in hotel rooms for a few days. I appreciated the very efficient service I received from Italy Perfect. They always responded promptly to my emails.

The apartment is beautiful, both spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the time we spent in the apartment. We would stay in the apartment again but not in June. The Piazza Santa Croce is the venue for evening music concerts and the Calcio Storico in June. The concerts included a rock opera and rock concerts, all highly amplified. High bleachers for seating fill almost the entire Piazza during June and the normal crowds of tourists seem worse because they have less room. We would have appreciated being advised about the use of the Piazza for events in June. It is better to know what to anticipate than to be unpleasantly surprised. Our apartment was in the back so the noise was not too bad if the windows were closed. We met guests staying in the front apartments who were extremely unhappy with the noise.

Oh my gosh, the trip was the most beautiful experience we could have asked for.  Wonderful!!!  Thank you for your services! I would go back tonight if I had the chance.  The Medici Apartment in Florence is simply the most beautiful apartment in the world.  Perfect for our big group.  Stately and palatial, with every accommodation we could want.  Huge windows open onto the square where excitement and life take place before your eyes.  Felt like living in a Renaissance Palace!!!  Renee, who manages the Pallazzo, was so wonderful and kind and warm.  We most enjoyed the sights, the activity on the Piazza, the local cafes in the Ambrogio (sp?) neighborhood, the art, the palatial, restful apartment. The art, the art, the art! Noise was an issue but we got a system down of using the air conditioners and fans at night to drown out the partying on the square.  It turned out fine and we got used to the system of windows closed and white noise on.  No other drawbacks or problems at all - everything was truly perfect.  The noise wouldn't have bothered us if we didn't have to be up in the AM with the kids, if we could have slept late like the locals it would have been fine. perfect, the perfect location - walked everywhere and best gellati in the world was only two blocks away. the Medici Apartment is right in the middle of things - the ONLY place to stay in Florence is what we all decided. The Ambrogio neighborhood was perfect, very authentic and no tourists, The Standa market was perfect - we went there daily to get food to cook in our apartment every night.  We ate out only once and enjoyed great dinners around the huge dining room table. The leather school behind Santa Croce was wonderful! Tips: Try to live like a local, get off the beaten path, book museum tickets ahead of time from home to avoid lines. Your service was wonderful and thorough and helpful in every way.  Seriously.

We rented two apartments in Palazzo Santa Croce from July 2nd to the 16th and spent 6 weeks in Italy overall. It was a marvelous trip and we have returned highly recommending staying in apartments to our friends. We loved and would certainly return to apartments in Florence, particularly Miravista which was light and lovely, and had the wonderful terrace.
