Enjoy

A perfect medieval castle overlooks the hamlet "borgo" that has been turned into a small vacation village of a few cottages and apartments. The views of the Chianti hills are open and lovely.

Location

Between Siena and Arezzo, a little off the beaten track, the fairy tale castle of Bucine rises from the hills of Tuscany. The hamlet next to the castle has been transformed into a vacation village with luxury apartments and villas.

With many fabled towns and villages to explore, you will be torn between enjoying your village or visiting new ones. Only a fifteen minute drive from the A1 highway that links Rome with Florence, but unless you know how to find this property, it is unlikely you will discover it. Arezzo, famous for its antiques market, charm, and medieval jousting is half an hour`s drive. Siena is a 45 minute drive, Florence an hour, and Rome`s airport about three hours. You can avoid driving into Florence by catching the local train that gets you right into the center of that city in an hour.

The restaurant that serves six days a week during mid and high season is a real bonus. Breakfast is available to apartment and cottage residents for an extra charge. Dinner served five nights: M,T,Th,F,Sat. There is a small bar and local wine and olive oil are available for purchase. You may reserve cycling tours, mountain bike rentals, guided walks and treks, and private or group cooking lessons.

This lovely property has so much to offer to the vacationer whether a couple or an extended family. The variety of accommodations welcomes mixed groups and family reunions, too. Close to well-known towns like Arezzo and Siena, it also lets you wander solitary among the olive groves and ancient hills.

Exterior

The property has 700 acres of woods, olive groves and vineyards to wander. An unrestored borgo used for farm purposes lies a hundred yards down the road and just beyond is a fishing lake. Fishing poles are available. The large, sunny swimming pool (26x66 feet or 8x20m) provides hours of enjoyment in summer.

Interior

Spacious Loggetta living/dining room with working fireplace, satellite TV receives a few English language news channels, separate and well equipped kitchen with oven, gas stove top, and refrigerator freezer. Bedroom with queen size bed, bathroom with shower, toilet, sink, bidet. Private terrace and covered portico.

Bucine Loggetta Review

by Kristin and Rusty Day
We have returned again and again to this very special destination, near the small town of Bucine. We had never stayed here in June and really enjoyed this time of year and the use of the wonderful pool and the surrounding gardens. Our accommodations were perfect, clean, orderly and very quiet and private as always. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, an easy drive to Florence, Arezzo, Siena, the Chianti Mountains and Montelchino, etc. The small town of Bucine has a small but very good farmers market every Wednesday, they also have an excellent butcher who sends you home with some of his own homemade sausage as a little gift. The fruit/vegetable market next to him is also very good, and they are very friendly. There is an excellent laundry service right next to the COOP as you first enter the town, they wash, fold and iron your clothes, it is a wonderful service. We do not go to restaurants, but prefer to stay in and cook. We would definitely recommend to couples, families with small children, anyone, this very magical place. [Thank you so much Kristin! I wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know that our trip to Tuscany and Rome was wonderful. Your help and your website really made our trip run very smoothly. We found Bucine to be a wonderful, serene spot in the Tuscan hills and being off the beaten path only added to the magic. The accommodations were beautiful, clean and well tended. Dinner and breakfast were tasty. Antonella is personable, kind and attentive. Her suggestions for dinner and towns to explore were spot on. We would be very happy to go back. Thank you for connecting us with a special place.

Bucine Loggetta Review

We stayed at Bucine Loggetta for a week in late Sept.-early October, when the weather was fabulous - sunny and in the 70s almost every day - grapes were being harvested and wine was being made. What a once in-a-lifetime experience! It is a beautiful, off-the-beaten path accommodation, and a good place from which to explore Tuscany with a car. It's a bit tricky to find the first time - you drive a mile or so off the main road through Bucine, then turn into this dirt and gravel road that winds past Cypress Trees, vineyards, and olive groves until you see the castle on the horizon - stunning. Our one bedroom villa was very nice, with a kitchen, living room, patio and adequate bathroom with a small shower. Olive groves and gorgeous pots of flowers were right outside our entrance. My only suggestion is that they update the guide to restaurants, etc. in the living room - it was a few years old. The staff was also welcoming and friendly - Marianna, whose family owns and runs the estate, Oana, who worked in the afternoons, and Angela the chef. I highly recommend taking a cooking class with Angela. While Oana translated, we made homemade tagliatelle, a ragout or meat sauce, meatballs, sauteed eggplant, roasted and grilled peppers, and tiramisu. Delicious! The location is somewhat remote so you need a car, but it's a quiet and relaxing place where you can enjoy the region while still having a restful vacation. We drove everywhere in Tuscany except Florence - my advice is to take the train from Montevarchi, about 20 minutes away (although leave more time - it's a bit tricky to find and parking is tough). Trains run more often from here than Bucine. We also recommend the coop market in Montevarchi. While there is one closer in Bucine, it's small. The one in Montevarchi is huge with rows and rows of produce, fresh cheeses, all kinds of groceries and other items - almost like a Whole Foods with merchandise. An area restaurant we highly recommend: Bottega di Duddova, a tiny, five-table restaurant in an equally tiny hilltop village, where you feel like you are in someone's Tuscan kitchen. Run by Leonardo and his family, the food is simple and local but fabulous, and one of the desserts is called Momma's cake. Also worth a visit is a shop in nearby Ambra, on the main road across from the shoe outlet, that sells only local olive oil, wine and honey. Italy Perfect was very a great way to reserve our villa, accommodating and responsive to our inquiries. I would highly recommend them and our particular accommodation, Bucine Logetta. Our third trip to This property, this unit has been our favorite so far and perfect for two people. The accommodations and perfect, the area is beautiful, great for hikes and centrally located to visit many towns and areas of Italy. It is an easy drive to Florence. The local butcher, fruit market in Bucine are excellent, across the main highway that leads into .bucine from the castle is a great antichi forno in poggi, there are signs. If you need a large market the Coop in Montevarchi is open everyday until 9:00 pm, which is very helpful. We would definitely recommend this to friends and plan to return next year.

Bucine Loggetta is approximately 10 minute drive to the town of Bucine. It is quiet, relaxing and well off the beaten path while at the same time unique in that it has a castle on site where the owners reside. You are surrounded by grapes, olive trees and well maintained gardens and landscaping including a large outdoor pool that too is well maintained. Reception personel are extremely helpful when needing assistance including recommendations on restaurants, shopping or use of the train. Dining is conveniently available on site however we found better options elsewhere but required to drive.

An out of the way, idyllic setting to spend several days or weeks in Tuscany. It's located 10 minutes from Bucine (a train stop on the way to Florence or Arezzo-you need a car to go anywhere). The accommodations were wonderful, the people there are terrific; kind, patient and helpful. We had two dinners prepared at Bucine Loggetta and they were delicious as was their wine (from grapes grown on the property. We also bought food and wine from one of the markets we visited and had a lovely dinner on our patio. About an hour drive from most of the Tuscan hill towns, I would strongly urge getting a Garmin GPS (or one like it)-I don't think we could have navigated without it. The only thing that we regret is not taking a cooking class.

The Bucine area was perfect! The location was centrally located to visit many cities. The accomodations and staff were 5 star. The setting for the castle and villas were from a dream. The pool was so peaceful and refreshing. We visited Florence, Sienna, Montepulciano, Pienza and the secret gem called Arezzo during out stay. Pat and Lisa of Italy Perfect were great in helping us throughtout the process in selecting this place.

My husband and I were in Italy to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The Bucine Loggetta exceeded our expectations. The setting was magnificent, our cottage was very comfortable, and the staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. The location was a little out of the way, but we had no difficulty getting to where we wanted to go. Our only disappointment was the weather- it was rainy and cool, so we were not able to utilize the terrace or the pool. We would recommend Italy Perfect highly.

The villa in Tuscany worked out really well.  With 4 daughter, 2 older and 2 toddlers the larger accommodations were perfect. We really enjoyed exploring the Tuscan region.  Each day was a new adventure as we drove our Ford van here and there seeing the sights.  We originally thought that we would relax and spend more time at the villa but ended up putting over 500 miles on the van that week alone. No problems, but did lose our security deposit when my wife and daughter decided to blow-up the cooktop.  Long story, quite funny really. Loved the location and surrounding area.  May have been a little too remote for us. But having the car really helped. Most of the local restaurants were good and had friendly service.  Each little town seemed to have its own specialties and it was fun to explore each to see the differences.  We visited, Aretzo, Siena, San Giminagno, Mont Riggioni, the Chianti region, Montevarchi, and several others.  (town names spelled to best of my memory) Tips:  Recommend using a GPS unit when driving the area.  Usually very accurate but at times put us into some strange situations that all turned out to be fun and exciting.  Tip 2 don't cook on top of the glass cover of the range, that's not what it is there for. Thank you for all your help.  We will not hesitate to recommend you to others.

I must say that I feel that I know you personally. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you so much for helping Jennifer prepare such an amazing and memorable trip. All the arrangements were perfect. The Castello di Lupinari was the perfect setting for my family. I must tell you that the owners of this property are some of the most lovely people we have ever met. We all would go back in a heartbeat.

We just wanted you to know that we had a totally fabulous time at Borgo Bucine last week. We also were fortunate to have lovely weather, and thoroughly enjoyed our daytrips to Pisa, Siena, Montepulciano, and Arrezzo. We also visited one of the local wineries, Poggio Molina (website is www.poggiomolina.it) whom the owners recommended. This was one of the highlights of our trip....the vineyards are gorgeous and the wine cellar and tasting room was beautiful. It's run by a local family, and they even sent us back with a gift of wine for recommending them (we bought two cases of red and one of white). ...everything else was perfect...we loved the layout of the villa (Fienile) and the furniture is beautiful. Thanks again for all of your help and advice and I would love to return to Italy again soon. Thank you

We returned from Italy late Saturday night. I must tell you -- Borgo Bucine was spectacular. Your directions were terrific and the family was lovely. I got especially friendly with Antonella. My daughter fell in love with their dogs. So, thanks for hand picking a lovely villa for us. We had a wonderful and relaxing trip. Tuscany is a very special place. The Italian people--even more special. It can get unbearably hot in the summer. We may have hit an unusually hot spell, but it did put a damper on our enjoyment. We had several days of 95-100 degree weather. Brutal. If people have a choice, they should choose May or October. There were soooooo many tourists, it was crazy. When I travel, I like to spend time with the people who live in the area. Not people like me! Anyway, Antonella suggested three "tourist free" places for us that I loved. Thanks for great tips. Oh, we ate in a place that you recommended. I don't have the name right now but it was about a block away from the Piazza della Signoria. Wonderful food. NO TOURISTS!! Grazie,
