Minerva's Treasure

2 Bedrooms 2 Bathrooms Sleeps 4 Rome

Minerva's Treasure is a gracious and warmly welcoming apartment in the most exclusive neighborhood in the center of Rome, the Spanish Steps quarter. It is decorated with fine style, beautiful art and lovely marble floors.

Location

Situated along the Tiber river in the Spanish Steps area, it is a 5-minute walk to Piazza del Popolo and Via del Corso. There is much to see and do in the immediate neighborhood. Piazza del Popolo is the grand entrance to the neighborhood where you can linger to enjoy street life and open space that leads uphill through the Pincian gardens to the expansive Borghese Gardens. Walk along Via di Ripetta/Via della Scrofa, window shopping at antique stores, enjoy a casual dinner at PizzaRe for authentic Neapolitan pizza, spend an hour at the Ara Pacis museum to take in the splendor of the Ara Pacis, or Altar of Peace, a masterpiece built in 13 B.C. commemorating Emperor Augustus whose reign introduced two centuries of relative peace within the empire. A contrast of modern and ancient, the museum, designed by Richard Meier, opened in 2006 to much controversy about the modern style. A further contrast is the adjacent hulking ruin of the tomb of Augustus whose round, domed shape echoes the Pantheon and Castel Sant Angelo. Stroll through the Mussolini-era arcade nearby with its imposing Fascist architecture, best known for Alfredo's, where Fettucine Alfredo was invented, now revitalized to include many interesting and hip restaurants, such as Gusto, a food emporium with a restaurant, wine bar, pizzeria, and café. Find one of our favorite restaurants La Campana along the route to the Pantheon area, then indulge in artisanal gelato at Giolitti, Grom or San Crispino.

Exterior

Inspired by the beautiful art in the apartment, Minerva's Treasure is named after the Roman/Etruscan goddess of wisdom and sponsor of arts.

The fine building is characteristic of this part of Rome and is a coveted neighborhood prized for its great location, easy access to both sides of the Tiber river and convenience to the subway, taxi stand in Piazza del Popolo and many neighborhood restaurants and shops.

Interior

From a large entry, enter a bright living room that has seating for all with a sofa and two arm chairs. A large window overlooks the tree-lined street that faces the Tiber river; there are no facing buildings so there is a lot of natural light. A narrow park dense with mulberry trees separates the street below from the river and the river road. Most of the year, the view is predominately the green of the trees.

The spacious entry in the center of the apartment serves double duty as a dining area with a drop-leaf table that opens up to seat four.

The kitchen is small but efficient, everything is within arm's reach. A large window faces the back, overlooking the inner courtyard and buildings across the way.

We will return!

by Patrick H

What a lovely and elegant apartment. My group was two couples. Best friends celebrating our 70th birthday’s during a one month stay in Italy. Rome was our first stop and the location, apartment, service and comfort far exceeded many of the grand hotels we have stayed at in the past. We were convenient to all the sites, but truly away from the crowds. We felt safe and walked in the evenings (late) after dinners having gelato’s. The apartment made us feel like locals. From the key code entry at the portico entry to the original, ornate and a bit temperamental elevator. Everything in the apartment worked and we were met at the apartment by a very knowledgeable, friendly host. English was well spoken for us. We contacted our host several times for recommendations of local services for beauty, food and entertainment. Is this apartment perfect? Of course not! But you will never find perfection so enjoy your time in Rome, don’t stress and settle in and truly enjoy your apartment in Rome. We will return!

Lovely

by Peter Wurzburger

I've read other comments and the satisfaction and comments all apply. A great place. Only note as I review the owner notes under "Plan" on the top ribbon is that the floor plan shown fails to show the second bathroom has been remodeled to now include a shower (tiny) where the sink is shown.

Minerva's Treasure is a Treasure!

by Puppie & Jim McCloskey

We could not have been more pleased with this beautiful little apartment! From the start, our hosts were eminently helpful and responsive. Rome Value Transfer is reliable and our driver, Omar was friendly and courteous. Minerva's Treasure is beautifully furnished and comfortable. Located next to the Tiber three blocks from Piazza del Popolo, it is 20 minutes, more or less, on foot, to most of the important sites. The Metro is 7 minutes away, just across the Piazza and is very user friendly. We did have one minor issue. Although the hosts supply fresh Lavazza coffee which we adore, we have never been successful trying to use MOKA espresso makers and the electric coffee maker was badly calcified and took forever to brew. When we left I pointed this out to our host and I'm confident that the problem will be rectified. A word about the immediate neighborhood, you are surrounded by excellent restaurants!

Electric coffeemaker has been decalcified. Italy Perfect Team

Very Happy in Rome

by Paula & Tom, Sue & Larry

We just wanted you to know that we were very happy with our apartment in Rome and delighted with your wonderful suggestions of darling Cristina and Rocco’s driving company! We saw a great deal of amazing Rome and benefited from 2 Airport pickups by Raimondo and a trip to the train station today, along with a few trips in Rome. Also, thank you for your restaurant suggestions- we ate amazingly well!

Minerva’s Treasure is perfectly Rome!

by Deb C

Minerva’s Treasure is perfectly Rome! This is a terrific apartment furnished beautifully. The paintings and personal touches added to a feeling of home. The location is wonderful with great restaurants and a small market just around the corner. Even though the kitchen is small, we managed just fine cooking up a dinner for 3 several times. After all, this is an incredible older building and it just adds to your stay. We would visit this apartment again and again if possible. Check in was easy and we found very nice treats to welcome us including a bottle of delicious wine. We appreciated everything.

We were so pleased to read your comments and all the factors that made your stay at Minverva's Treasure enjoyable! The Italy Perfect Team

Thank you Italy Perfect for a perfect stay in Rome!

by Eugene T.

We were so pleased with our choice of the Minerva's Treasure apartment. It looks exactly like the photos and our stay got off to a great start with the sweet greeter welcoming us at the apartment, showing us how to use the appliances, explaining things and best of all with a bottle of wine, cookies, juice and a cold bottle of water in the fridge. Great way to start our stay! It was hot in Rome and the A/C worked wonderfully well. Liked having two full bathrooms, they are not large but done in high quality marble, what more can you want when in the best part of the center of Rome! Kitchen was just perfect for us. Supermarket is a short walk & we enjoyed breakfast each morning in the apartment before heading out to explore Rome. Back bedroom is super quiet. Front bedroom and living room get traffic noise from street that parallels the river but Lisa had explained that so we knew to expect it. Favorite neighborhood restaurants were Buca di Ripetta and and Pizza Re. Both just 2 blocks away. Thank you Italy Perfect for a perfect stay in Rome!

Love the location

by Carol & Bill Thomas

This was our second stay at Minerva's Treasure. Love the location, we love to walk so we were up early each morning and walked 4 miles in the Borghese Gardens which is about a 5 minute walk from the apartment, before the heat of the day, such a wonderful way to experience Rome. Also like that there is a taxi stand in nearby Piazza del Popolo, so convenient. Living room is so elegant, and sofa long enough for good naps! Apartment has a good layout and it is in a quality, well maintained building. Also good water pressure in the showers, something that can be problematic in parts of Rome. Can't wait to return again. Grazie Pat, Lisa and Daniela for taking such good care of us!

Nice apartment with comfortable living areas

by Jeanne

Nice apartment with comfortable living areas located near the Piazza del Popolo. The kitchen is small but fine, especially if you are not going to cook. Only a mokka, a traditional Italian coffee maker. The bedrooms were fine but not really enough places for luggage, so i used the living room area to open my bags. Closets were fine with enough hangers, etc. Could use another lamp in the front bedroom. The air conditioning worked very well and were in each room. Great to have! The Bathrooms were very well designed for the small area they had to use. Everything was on the small side especially the shower but really fine. Easy to access the inside courtyard, used for parking their cars, but it was rather dark outside street entrance at night. Best to take a taxi home at late night if you are a single on your own. The apartment had maps for our use and some info on nearby restaurants which is very helpful for first time visitors in this area of Rome. [Thank you so much for your kind review, Jeanne. We are happy you enjoyed the apartment and location. It is a traditional city apartment so compact in size as you mostly find in Rome. There is an American drip coffee maker, sorry you overlooked it.]

The location is ideal.

by chub

We stayed at Minerva's Treasure Apartment. The location is ideal. Easy to walk to the Spanish Steps and surrounding area. The CASA restaurant just a few steps away from the apartment is delightful - simple surroundings but delicious food. The apartment was spacious but it lacked some of the features I have seen in Paris Perfect apartments. The linens and towels were very poor quality and there were no extras. The greeter was helpful but all the information was a bit overwhelming given the jet lag. The driver Rocco was reliable and pleasant. I would recommend this apartment and the Italy Perfect team. Great trip. Thank you. [Thank you Martha, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay and will look into replacing the towels. The Italy Perfect Team]

Highly recommend

by Carol Berc

I just returned from spending a month at MINERVA’S TREASURE in Rome, Italy. Every step of the way working with Italy Perfect was indeed PERFECT. The moment I arrived I was met by the most amazing greeter Daniela who walked me through everything I needed to know about the unit and the area. She was patient and took her time answering any questions I had. The apartment was spotless and beautifully decorated. The bed/mattress was extremely comfortable. The restaurants Daniela recommended were all superb. Casa Restaurant was steps away and so so delicious but just a few blocks away were other amazing eateries and shops. The kitchen was well stocked with all the pots, pans and utensils that I needed to prepare some delicious meals for myself during my stay. The location was perfect in every way. I walked everywhere. What a plus having a washer/dryer in the apartment. Rare in Italy. The Wifi was excellent so I was able to respond to work daily. I highly recommend using Italy Perfect as your vacation rental experts. I also have used Paris Perfect in the past. Two well run companies. [Thank you Carol, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay! Perfect spot for our family

by Karen B

Perfect spot for our family for a week in Rome! We were met at the apartment by Daniela and she was extremely helpful with information about the apartment and the area, Everything was very clean and the apartment was well appointed. Perfect spot to return to after sightseeing in the area. Best part was a great restaurant called Casa just right outside the door. Highly recommend it if you stay at this spot.

We highly recommend this apartment

by Burt Barber

Overall, the accommodations were fantastic. the location was perfectly situated near many shops, grocery stores and was a local neighborhood so it was less touristy so the restaurants were more authentic to what locals enjoy. This apartment was well appointed with comfortable bedding, well lit, very roomy. We were extremely comfortable and felt safe and secure in this location and appreciated this recommendation from ItalyPerfect and the greeter was very kind and helped with any questions we had. We highly recommend this apartment to friends and family!! We highly recommend using MyTaxi to help with transportations. We never waited more than 5 minutes and the app took care of the charges. We do recommend the front windows to be double insulated or something to help block the street noise. [Thank you Burt, we are pleased you enjoyed your stayed. The Italy Perfect Team]

Architecturally beautiful modern home of the ancient Roman altar (13 BC) to honor the emperor Augustus who conquered and delivered peace to the Roman empire. Pax (peace) Romana.
Vatican Museums (10 via Subway mins Walking)

Piazza Navona (16 mins Walking)
Iconic piazza of Rome where Romans once raced their chariots. Three beautiful fountains the chief being the Fountain of the Four rivers. Enjoy street musicians and small vendors. Great place to hang out, dine and have a gelato.

Beautiful Baroque fountain, the largest in Rome, a city of fountains. Here is where you throw 3 coins over your shoulder to ensure you will return to Rome.
St. Peter's Basilica (26 mins Walking)
One of the holiest catholic churches, the church of the Pope. It is very large and filled with inspiring and beautiful art and areas. A tour is recommended.
