Casetta Bonsi

This Casetta is quite possibly the best place we've ever stayed, between my wife and I, we've traveled to over a dozen countries and stayed in a variety of hotels, bnbs and rentals. Nothing really comes close to this stay in Florence. You are close to everything, but on the quieter side of the Arno river. You truly feel like you are staying in the a Renaissance home, with antique furnishings to match, along with modern comforts to ensure you can make the most of your stay. We are a celiac couple and we had no trouble finding restaurants nearby or gathering supplies for our own meals at home. The terrace is almost always hidden from the sun and overlooks the tower of piazza della signora. We spent morning and evening hours sitting and soaking up the sounds of bird calls and the locals. I really can't recommend it enough, with a very helpful host who can answer questions and provide recommendations (like a remote, but local hotel concierge). I felt you are hesitant, this reviewer is telling you to book if before someone else grabs the memories you could have here.

Lovely little house, great location. Walking distance to just about everything you will want to see. Our greeter, was pleasant and helpful. A bottle of wine and sweet treats were left for us upon our arrival. Would highly recommend this place. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The hill you must walk up to get to the house might be a challenge to some. We are in our 70s and in good shape, and so it was not a problem for us.

My husband and I stayed here in early September and it was the perfect place to call home for our week in Florence. I can't express just how ideal of a location this is! Centrally located and easy to walk to so many neighborhoods, attractions, and restaurants. Just a short work from the busy Ponte Vecchio area, but so quiet! We were very grateful for the terrace to relax on, and whether we were enjoying coffee in the morning or a drink in the evening, we couldn't believe how quiet it was in the neighborhood, knowing that there was so much activity just down the hill. We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Florence.

What an amazing visit!! Our greeter was very personable, extremely helpful and quite knowledgeable about things to do and see in Florence. The proximity to Ponte Vecchio was less than a block.

Casetta Bonsi was a wonderful retreat for our 8 day stay in Florence. Its homey comfort suited us and really captured the character of the city. As others have described, it is quiet (which is surprising given the line of Vespas parked in the tiny piazza right outside) but also just uphill from the busy Ponte Vecchio neighborhood. This is our second time using Vacation Perfect and if we are going somewhere they manage apartment rentals, we will definitely use them again. Working with them offers such peace of mind. An example of this came when a couple of days after arriving, the weather turned hot and we couldn’t find a way to turn on the ac. We called our wonderful greeter, and the caretaker came out within an hour. After speaking to the owner, the remotes had been in a locked armoire. Problem solved and it was great to say hello and thank you to the owner.

We could not have been happier with Casetta Bonsi! We were there 4 nights and utilized the VERY convenient location for all our adventures in Florence. Although close to the action, the home was a block away from the crowds. Quite, comfortable and cozy, we really felt like we were living as the locals do. We hardily recommend this little jewel

I stayed at Casetta Bonsi briefly in early May and found it to be a very comfortable and well-located place. The home was spotless, and the host was extremely gracious and helpful throughout. It’s tucked just far enough away from the busy tourist streets to feel quiet, but still an easy walk to the main sights and good local spots. The space has charm and character, with a small upstairs terrace that’s a nice bonus for morning coffee or relaxing in the evening. Everything was in good working order and exactly as described. A great option for anyone looking for a quiet, clean, and authentic place to stay in Florence.

We could not have been more pleased with our stay here. Other reviews say the pictures don’t do it justice, and they are CORRECT! Tucked away just off the road, this beautiful two-story apartment features an incredible terrace where you can enjoy the morning sun, the afternoon breeze, or the night sky. You’re also close enough to the main drag but far enough away that it’s still quite quiet.Will DEFINITELY be returning! We loved our stay here! The neighborhood was quiet and you are a very short walk away from everything.

This was our favorite place we stayed in all of Italy. The house was charming and comfortable, we loved the beds, the neighborhood was fantastic and very close to everything one would want to visit. We feel lucky to have found it.

Apartment is spotless in very good condition. Exactly as described. There is a fine grocery store close to Ponte Vecchio with a large selection of foods on offer. Also some good pastry shops. One caution is that the access is about 150 meters up a steep hill. At the end of the day for those 60+ after having walked all day, this can be a challenge. 

We loved our stay in Florence and having this cozy apartment was super convenient. Aside from the short walk up and down a steep hill its was great! Although we didn’t mind the extra exercise! Quiet street close to the bridge and all sorts of action. Highly recommend, will use again!

My partner and I found these accommodations spectacular! Impeccably clean and furnished and comfortable. It is true to the pictures online—and the two levels and the layout of the rooms even more delightful than the photos can capture. We were sad to say goodbye to this very special place and hope to return one day.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at Casetti Bonsi. It was clean, spacious and had everything we needed plus more. Our hostess was great and helpful. We loved the fact we could walk to all the major sights and tour meeting spots. The description provided is very accurate. We would come back again!!!

This was such a magical 10 day vacation for my ten year old daughter and I. We absolutely loved our stay at the Casetta Bonsi. The location is so ideal and we loved staying on the Oltrarno side of the Arno river. There are lots of hidden gems to explore around the apartment and we loved the walkability to everything. We walked everywhere and became very acquainted with the neighborhood. The apartment is well appointed, clean and the bed is was so comfortable. While it was hot during our stay, the A/C is great and we loved having a private terrace to relax on, in the evenings. What I love about the "perfect" rentals is you know you are getting a quality vacation rental. I stayed in one of your apartments in Paris a couple years ago and I wouldn't consider booking with anyone else! We very much appreciated being able to check in a bit early when we arrived and your assistance arranging transportation for us.

We had a wonderful time staying in this apartment. The location is perfect, 10/10. We arrived early, the host helped us coordinate a spot to leave luggage to allow us to walk around Florence. We were so close to Ponte Vecchio & a short walk to sunsets at Piazzale Michelangelo, a grocery store and many good options for aperitivo and coffee. Would return again.

This home is wonderful and stays with you long after you leave. Perfect for a fit traveler who likes to walk! The neighborhood is beautiful and the small terrace is heaven.

We had a wonderful 4-day stay at the beautiful Casetta Bonsi. The unit was very clean. It situated in a more local neighborhood on the south side of the Arno River, away from the tourist crowds, though it is only a short walk from Ponte Vecchio bridge, which becomes very lively at night. Checkin instructions were clear and we were greeted by our host who gave us a walk around of the home. The home is equipped with everything you need for your stay. The upstairs bedroom is quite spacious and can be turned into two single beds. The living room couch on the main floor was also converted into two single beds. We were four people and felt very comfortable. The unit has one bathroom with a stand-up shower and the water pressure was great. Be cautious of leaving the windows open and consider using bug repellent as you will be dealing with mosquitoes that will feast on you at night. There is also a nice balcony with a view of the Torre di Arnolfo medieval tower. Overall, this is one of the best short terms stays that I’ve experienced.

Casetta Bonsi is the loveliest retreat set just far enough away from the hustle and bustle that you feel like you are a local! This is our second time at Casetta Bonsi and I hope there will be a third!! Just a short walk to Ponte Vecchio to get to the main attractions, yet on a quiet, tiny street with a lovely balcony. Our greeter was prompt, informative and available when there was a question or two. The Casetta was spotless, had beautiful linens on the bed and the AC was a life saver during the (extremely) hot weather! There is a grocery store a short walk away, and loads of restaurants. Casetta Bonsi is a hidden gem that is the perfect place to call home while in Firenze!!

The property is sizeable and clean, with all the amenities we needed. Air conditioning worked great, laundry facilities (badly needed at our third week in Europe) were good, and proximity to anything we wanted to walk to was perfect. I will say the cash that was required at check-in was irksome - allowing me to pre-pay online would have helped avoid a trip to the ATM at an awkward time. Also you must traverse a steep incline to get to the apartment, which can be daunting after a day of walking the city. The 2-wheeled vehicles that park in front can definitely be irritating noise-wise, but something we got used to. We had a great stay and will certainly consider this property again for future stays in Florence.

Really enjoyed the unit. It is two levels with bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Kitchen and living room downstairs. Well appointed with paintings and nice furniture. AC was great since it was hot. Location was excellent just two blocks up from ponte Vecchio. Very manageable 20 minute walk to train station. Really enjoyed unit although could be difficult with stairs.

I just returned from my trip to Florence where my family stayed in Casetta Bonsi. Your assistance in the reservation process was outstanding.  Thank you both! The Bonsi house is a gem! We had the most wonderful time there! Oltarno is the best neighborhood, in our opinion; the Bonsi house is beautifully appointed with thoughtful details, and wonderfully private. We would only want to stay at Bonsi when we visit Florence again! Our greeter was very responsive and simply wonderful!  Again, and until we meet again, we loved every aspect of our experience with the Italy Perfect Team!! Thank you so much!

Florence was wonderful. We found many excellent restaurants to enjoy in the neighborhood and the house was comfortable. There is one steep block to reach Casetta but we were aware of it so it was not a concern. Casetta was the cleanest place we have ever stayed! Thank you Italy Perfect. 

Lovely accommodations in a great location. We got our steps in with the gradual incline, walking to the house. Bonus: a neighbor is a classical pianist so we enjoyed their practice sessions on a couple days.

Casetta Bonsi is a lovely home away from the busy streets of Florence. It was a pleasure to have such a quiet and comfortable place to relax after a very busy 8 days of touring the countryside. Everything you need is at your fingertips and a short walk down the hill is a very nice wine shop and wonderful supermarket. The home is filled with beautiful artwork. The kitchen is equipped with basic spices and oils and vinegar and anything you might need to prepare a meal. The bed was super comfortable and as someone else mentioned, plenty of storage for clothes, etc. The location is Perfect! Our experience with the Vacation Perfect team has always been impeccable. Would definitely recommend this home.

Casetta Bonsi is a gem that is ideally situated in the less touristy Oltrarno but yet it has quick access to the Ponte Vecchio to visit the attractions of the city center. The property is also located part way up the hill to higher sights in Oltrarno such as Fort Belvedere and the Bardini Gardens. It is also close to Cantina del Gelato with arguably the best artisanal gelato in Florence and an excellent supermarket. In sum, location in our opinion was fantastic for a visit to Florence. The entire experience with Italy Perfect and our greeter, was perfect as they provide very clear instructions on contact information, how to get there, and other details. The home has Florentine charm, private, and the kitchen is equipped with everything that you need to cook meals. If there are problems, they are quickly corrected. For example, the carafe on our coffee pot was cracked when we arrived and new coffee pot suddenly appeared while we were out sightseeing. There is ample storage for clothes and convenient places to store your suitcases. The wonderful patio is perfect for a breakfast or glass of wine. There are also wonderful sounds on the patio including many birds that inhabit the giant cedar off the deck and the church bells from the Chiesa dei Santi Girolemo e Francisco alla Costa that is just up the street. This small church, built in 1432, is sometimes open and worth visiting as it has an exquisite interior. While almost "perfect," please note that the mattress is on the harder side that may be an issue for some and that the property is located about 50 yards up a significant hill on the Costa dei Magnoli that could be an issue for those with mobility problems. On the plus side, the walk up the hill walks off the gelato calories. We would choose this property again if we returned to Florence.

 Our stay in a Florence was simply spectacular. This home was huge, sparkling clean, extremely comfortable, and nice and cool during the heat wave. This charming Casetta is in the center of everything and walking distance to all you want to see with even more to discover. My mom and I found it hard to leave as we felt so at home. We would have our morning coffee on the terrace and wine during the evenings as we could hear cello playing in the distance. The design of the home was also perfection. I hope to be back again soon, thank you for a seamless stay and for making us fall in love with Florence.

This apartment is simply superb. Ideal situation, delightfully furnished, comfortable bed, fine kitchen, well-appointed bathroom. The air is filled with the sound of bells and fragrant with the smell of hibiscus. Everybody charming, efficient, helpful. Bravi tutti.

We spent four weeks at Casetta Bonsi in October 2021. Since we were there for an extended period, we settled in and became very familiar with the house and surroundings; more so compared to the usual one-two week visit. The house proved to be very comfortable. The upstairs bedroom is large and has plenty of closet space. The bed was very good. The bathroom also is fairly large and features new, modern furnishings. The terrace is small but good for sitting out in for morning coffee. The downstairs seating and dining areas were great for lounging around during the evening. The kitchen is small but functional, and fairly well-equipped. (Note, however, that while there is a microwave, it doesn't have an oven.) The dishwasher and clothes washer were an added bonus. As other reviewers have noted, the location is exceptional. The main tourist areas are steps away. Plus, the Bardini and Boboli gardens are a short walk up the hill (past a house where Galileo once lived); both are lovely and a great respite from the crowds (although, TBH, it wasn't so crowded when we were there). Finally, the owner, Maurizio, was very friendly and accommodating. We needed his help with a couple of very minor things, and he was super helpful and responsive.
