A charming cottage with a terrace right in the heart of Florence, a rare find. Stroll two short blocks to the famed Ponte Vecchio, relax on the terrace and listen to the church bells toll!

Casetta Bonsi sets the "gold standard" for location, good value and great guest reviews. This is an wonderful house in an excellent historic center location, close to the action but situated in its own little piazza on the Oltrarno side of the Arno river so that you can escape and relax on the terrace while listening to the sound of church bells tolling throughout majestic Florence.

Location

Excellent home-away-from-home just two blocks tothe famed Ponte Vecchio. Tastefully decorated, you`ll enjoy the great location and charm. The major sites are all within easy walking distance. Also nearby are many excellent cafes, restaurants and shops. A favorite bakery, gelateria and pizzeria are within a five minute walk. The Oltrarno neighborhood is famous for it`s many picturesque crafts workshops that carry on centuries-old artisan traditions.

Exterior

Casetta Bonsi is a rare example of an independent house in the center of Florence as very few still exist. The original building where the living room and kitchen are now located was built in 1450. In 1540 a landslide destroyed eighteen neighborhood houses and killed many residents, which lead Cosimo de` Medici to decree that no houses could be built in this area. This ruling lasted 350 years until landowners began to ignore the decree and rebuild. In 1890 the Florentine Bonsi della Ruota family rebuilt and expanded the little house to the current size.

Interior

Italian terracotta tiles throughout and charming decorative touches throughout. The house is on two levels with the living room and kitchen on the ground floor and bedroom, bathroom and terrace on the second level.

The spacious living room has a comfortable sofa that converts into two separate twin beds and two armchairs.

The kitchen is well appointed. Enjoy breakfast at the little counter that overlooks the private garden of the villa next door. Off the kitchen is a small laundry room with washing machine and utility sink.

Off the upstairs landing is the terrace with a shaded pergola where you can sip your morning espresso or enjoy a glass of wine as the sun sets over this dazzling small city.

Charming Retreat in Florence

by Chris M

We had a wonderful 4-day stay at the beautiful Casetta Bonsi. The unit was very clean. It situated in a more local neighborhood on the south side of the Arno River, away from the tourist crowds, though it is only a short walk from Ponte Vecchio bridge, which becomes very lively at night. Checkin instructions were clear and we were greeted by our host who gave us a walk around of the home. The home is equipped with everything you need for your stay. The upstairs bedroom is quite spacious and can be turned into two single beds. The living room couch on the main floor was also converted into two single beds. We were four people and felt very comfortable. The unit has one bathroom with a stand-up shower and the water pressure was great. Be cautious of leaving the windows open and consider using bug repellent as you will be dealing with mosquitoes that will feast on you at night. There is also a nice balcony with a view of the Torre di Arnolfo medieval tower. Overall, this is one of the best short terms stays that I’ve experienced.

A Perfect Retreat

by C. Hinshaw

Casetta Bonsi is the loveliest retreat set just far enough away from the hustle and bustle that you feel like you are a local! This is our second time at Casetta Bonsi and I hope there will be a third!! Just a short walk to Ponte Vecchio to get to the main attractions, yet on a quiet, tiny street with a lovely balcony. Our greeter was prompt, informative and available when there was a question or two. The Casetta was spotless, had beautiful linens on the bed and the AC was a life saver during the (extremely) hot weather! There is a grocery store a short walk away, and loads of restaurants. Casetta Bonsi is a hidden gem that is the perfect place to call home while in Firenze!!

Great stay

by Blaine F

The property is sizeable and clean, with all the amenities we needed. Air conditioning worked great, laundry facilities (badly needed at our third week in Europe) were good, and proximity to anything we wanted to walk to was perfect. I will say the cash that was required at check-in was irksome - allowing me to pre-pay online would have helped avoid a trip to the ATM at an awkward time. Also you must traverse a steep incline to get to the apartment, which can be daunting after a day of walking the city. The 2-wheeled vehicles that park in front can definitely be irritating noise-wise, but something we got used to. We had a great stay and will certainly consider this property again for future stays in Florence.

We are so glad you had a great stay and enjoyed the apartment, its location, the air conditioning, laundry and good proximity to the sites. The description is clear about the issues you mention. The Italy Perfect Team

Just two blocks up from Ponte Vecchio

by Paul S

Really enjoyed the unit. It is two levels with bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Kitchen and living room downstairs. Well appointed with paintings and nice furniture. AC was great since it was hot. Location was excellent just two blocks up from ponte Vecchio. Very manageable 20 minute walk to train station. Really enjoyed unit although could be difficult with stairs.

The Bonsi house is a gem!

by Holly M

I just returned from my trip to Florence where my family stayed in Casetta Bonsi. Your assistance in the reservation process was outstanding.  Thank you both! The Bonsi house is a gem! We had the most wonderful time there! Oltarno is the best neighborhood, in our opinion; the Bonsi house is beautifully appointed with thoughtful details, and wonderfully private. We would only want to stay at Bonsi when we visit Florence again! Our greeter was very responsive and simply wonderful!  Again, and until we meet again, we loved every aspect of our experience with the Italy Perfect Team!! Thank you so much!

So much to enjoy!

by Sheila C.

Florence was wonderful. We found many excellent restaurants to enjoy in the neighborhood and the house was comfortable. There is one steep block to reach Casetta but we were aware of it so it was not a concern. Casetta was the cleanest place we have ever stayed! Thank you Italy Perfect.

Lovely accommodations in a great location. We got our steps in with the gradual incline, walking to the house. Bonus: a neighbor is a classical pianist so we enjoyed their practice sessions on a couple days.

Lovely Home!

by Jan Moyse

Casetta Bonsi is a lovely home away from the busy streets of Florence. It was a pleasure to have such a quiet and comfortable place to relax after a very busy 8 days of touring the countryside. Everything you need is at your fingertips and a short walk down the hill is a very nice wine shop and wonderful supermarket. The home is filled with beautiful artwork. The kitchen is equipped with basic spices and oils and vinegar and anything you might need to prepare a meal. The bed was super comfortable and as someone else mentioned, plenty of storage for clothes, etc. The location is Perfect! Our experience with the Vacation Perfect team has always been impeccable. Would definitely recommend this home.

Magnifico!

by James E Fitzpatrick

Casetta Bonsi is a gem that is ideally situated in the less touristy Oltrarno but yet it has quick access to the Ponte Vecchio to visit the attractions of the city center. The property is also located part way up the hill to higher sights in Oltrarno such as Fort Belvedere and the Bardini Gardens. It is also close to Cantina del Gelato with arguably the best artisanal gelato in Florence and an excellent supermarket. In sum, location in our opinion was fantastic for a visit to Florence. The entire experience with Italy Perfect and our greeter, was perfect as they provide very clear instructions on contact information, how to get there, and other details. The home has Florentine charm, private, and the kitchen is equipped with everything that you need to cook meals. If there are problems, they are quickly corrected. For example, the carafe on our coffee pot was cracked when we arrived and new coffee pot suddenly appeared while we were out sightseeing. There is ample storage for clothes and convenient places to store your suitcases. The wonderful patio is perfect for a breakfast or glass of wine. There are also wonderful sounds on the patio including many birds that inhabit the giant cedar off the deck and the church bells from the Chiesa dei Santi Girolemo e Francisco alla Costa that is just up the street. This small church, built in 1432, is sometimes open and worth visiting as it has an exquisite interior. While almost "perfect," please note that the mattress is on the harder side that may be an issue for some and that the property is located about 50 yards up a significant hill on the Costa dei Magnoli that could be an issue for those with mobility problems. On the plus side, the walk up the hill walks off the gelato calories. We would choose this property again if we returned to Florence.

Our stay in a Florence was simply spectacular

by Patricia S

Our stay in a Florence was simply spectacular. This home was huge, sparkling clean, extremely comfortable, and nice and cool during the heat wave. This charming Casetta is in the center of everything and walking distance to all you want to see with even more to discover. My mom and I found it hard to leave as we felt so at home. We would have our morning coffee on the terrace and wine during the evenings as we could hear cello playing in the distance. The design of the home was also perfection. I hope to be back again soon, thank you for a seamless stay and for making us fall in love with Florence.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful Casetta Bonsi experience with us! We sincerely hope to welcome you back soon Patricia. The Italy Perfect Team

Lovely house, fantastic location

by Andrew

We spent four weeks at Casetta Bonsi in October 2021. Since we were there for an extended period, we settled in and became very familiar with the house and surroundings; more so compared to the usual one-two week visit. The house proved to be very comfortable. The upstairs bedroom is large and has plenty of closet space. The bed was very good. The bathroom also is fairly large and features new, modern furnishings. The terrace is small but good for sitting out in for morning coffee. The downstairs seating and dining areas were great for lounging around during the evening. The kitchen is small but functional, and fairly well-equipped. (Note, however, that while there is a microwave, it doesn't have an oven.) The dishwasher and clothes washer were an added bonus. As other reviewers have noted, the location is exceptional. The main tourist areas are steps away. Plus, the Bardini and Boboli gardens are a short walk up the hill (past a house where Galileo once lived); both are lovely and a great respite from the crowds (although, TBH, it wasn't so crowded when we were there). Finally, the owner, Maurizio, was very friendly and accommodating. We needed his help with a couple of very minor things, and he was super helpful and responsive. Recommended heartily and unconditionally! [Thank you very much, Andrew, for enjoying Casetta Bonsi and Florence!]

Had stayed in the Casetta back in 2006 and always remembered how nice it was, so for our 50th anniversary trip this year we opted for a longer stay of 18 nights. We were certainly not disappointed. Casetta Bonsi is one of the nicest properties we've ever stayed at in all of our years of travel around the world. The Oltrarno location is terrific - a couple of blocks from the Ponte Vecchio but a world away from the bustle (and noise) of central Florence. Being able to come "home" every afternoon after a day out and about was a real treat. The little house contains every amenity, making it an extremely comfortable nest for an extended stay. My wife prompts me to mention that the washing machine was extremely efficient - the best she experienced during our recent 5 week stay in Tuscany.Maurizio (owner and greeter) was a pleasure to deal with ... just a true gentleman in every respect. In summary, we cannot recommend Casetta Bonsi highly enough.[We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with us! Located very close to the ponte vechio, uffizi overlooking a landscaped quiet courtyard. While Located approx 150 metres up a narrow street it is a great advantage as only a few cars and people use it. There are so many good restaurants wine bars gelato shops museums. If you are staying some time in Florence the "Friends of Uffizi" is very worthwhile. We have been back to Florence 6 odd times staying from 3 weeks to 2 months and still have not visited all the things worth visiting. We do not use Florence as a base to visit Tuscany. Do that separately if can arrange the time. Florence remains our second best city in the world (after Sydney!) [Thank you for your kind review! We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay! We really enjoyed staying in this distinctive little house. The bed was very comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and there was plenty of space to relax. We loved the nearby Golden View cafe and the gourmet supermarket. We weren’t at all bothered by noise in spite of the motorcycles parked outside. The location was great — close to everything but away from the crowds. If you stay here, don’t forget to visit the nearby Bardini Gardens. Some drawbacks: no mirror except in the bathroom, somewhat temperamental hot water system, and unreliable Wi-Fi. The owner was very friendly and helpful and I’m sure would have been responsive if we’d asked about any of these things but we were too busy enjoying Florence. If you have a car there is a garage very close by and parking there means you aren’t subject to the ZTL fine. But it was very expensive (45 euros a day) so we parked outside the ZTL for 20 euros a day in the Porta al Prato garage. Casetta Bonsi was a wonderful place to stay during our visit to Florence. It is immensely charming, perfectly laid out and accommodating, and hosted by the friendly and VERY helpful Maurizio and his wife Gabriella. The location, a few steps on the quieter side of Ponte Vecchio, is far enough off the beaten tourist area to feel like living in a Florence neighborhood, but close enough to make it easy to walk to the riches of the city. (The one caveat: It is a short but steep walk up a hill--it is not a place to stay for someone who would find that too much of a challenge. But for us healthy 70-somethings, it was fine.) Here are a few suggestions for things that might be less than obvious in a city jammed with great riches:- Bardini Gardens, further up the hill, is gorgeous and has stunning views of the city.- Two superb restaurants not so well-known: Fishing Lab and Trattorio Sergio Gozzi.- The frescoes by Fra Angelica in the monks' cells on the first floor of San Marco.- The bar food at the back of the bar of the Golden View, just down the street from the Casetta. For €8 you get a flight of three wines and three small bites of delicious appetizer; for another €7-€9 you can choose among tasty small plates. A great place for a very light dinner or pre-dinner outing, with a wonderful view just on the south bank of the Arno. (Note: this is not the Golden View's restaurant, which we did not visit.) Overall: We can't imagine a better place to stay in Florence. We hope to return to this great city some day and would be very disappointed if we couldn't stay at the Casetta. My husband and I spent 8 nights at the Casetta Bonsi at the end of September, 2018.If we come back to Florence, we definitely would hope to stay at the Casetta again.Maurizio, the owner, met us for check-in and departure. He is a charming host and had great suggestions for nearby “hidden gem” restaurants. He also arranged to have a taxi there for us at checkout. The apartment itself is great for 2 people and could easily accommodate 1 or 2 more (using the pull-out bed downstairs) if you are willing to share the one bathroom. Everything is spotlessly clean and up-to-date and the bed was great. We had a few unseasonably warm days during our stay and the air conditioning quickly brought both upstairs and downstairs areas to a comfortable temperature when we returned. There was very little street noise (only the sound of an occasional moped coming or going). We slept very well. After spending a week in the Oltrarno district, that it is only area of Florence where we would choose to stay on a return visit. A 15 minute walk will reach any of the tourist sites in Central Florence. Meanwhile, after a day in the crowds across the river, we found great restaurants, enoteca’s, shops, and, of course, gelato on the quiet side. The only caution I would offer is that the uphill walk to the apartment is steep as mentioned in the property description. It shouldn’t present a problem for anyone who can climb a few flights of stairs but is probably not the best choice for someone with mobility issues since the bedroom and bathroom are also on the upper floor of the apartment.Other nice amenities provided were a small wall safe (nice place to store passports) and a security alarm. Maurizio also greeted our arrival with a plate of fresh fruit and a nice bottle of Chianti.[Thank you Martha, we are delighted you enjoyed staying at the Casetta Bonsi and hope to welcome you again! He was also very helpful in arranging transportation to and from the train station. The house itself is well appointed and provides all the comforts of home. The first thing you will discover with Casetta Bonsi is the incredible location, right in the heart of Florence. It’s perfectly hidden away off a little side street which ensured plenty of privacy during our stay, yet we were mere moments from stunning Ponte Vecchio - definitely one of the most photogenic spots in the city. The moment you walk into the main living area you will find a comfortable sofa, dining table, and TV. The aircon was particularly welcome during our hot July stay. The owners have really considered everything for the perfect vacation: from the useful maps and guidebooks, to the very thoughtful (and delicious!) gift of biscuits on our arrival. On the first floor, along with a very comfortable bedroom, you will find your very own balcony which is a great place to relax and soak up the atmosphere. We recommend having a glass of wine at sunset before you head out for dinner. We could not have wished for a more lovely home away from home during our vacation, and will certainly be booking again with Italy Perfect! This was the perfect spot for our visit to Florence with our 20-something son. My husband and I enjoyed the privacy of the upstairs master bedroom and our son found the pull-out couch in the living room worked just fine for him. Every little touch is thought of in this small house. The kitchen was fully equipped with a dishwasher too. Maurizio met us when we arrived and gave us a very full orientation to the place. He also thoughtfully arranged a cab for us, the day we left. There were many personal touches -- we arrived to find a bowl of fresh fruit, a bottle of wine and Italian cookies to welcome us. This little place is a short walk from everything that we wanted to see in Florence and has a grocery store and various restaurants just 5 minutes away. Maurizio left us a very helpful list of good reasonably-priced restaurants in the area, which we used. We would happily stay here again!

Casetta Bonsi Review

by Anne and John Farrell
We spent two weeks living in the "little house" on Piazza de Bonsi, and loved every minute of our stay. Maurizio and Gabriella welcomed us warmly, and we happily settled right in. The house goes back many centuries, but it has been nicely renovated and is very comfortable. The upstairs bedroom is spacious, and the bed is very comfortable. The living room has a big dining table, and the kitchen is perfectly adequate for cooking if you wish. The neighborhood is lovely, but be prepared to walk up a fairly steep hill (Costa dei Magnoli) when you head home after a day visiting all the sights! The location is great, however, and you can walk to all the main tourist areas easily. The Casetta was always quiet at night, which we loved. You can see the tower of the Signoria from the lovely balcony upstairs. It was too cold for us to use it but we imagine it is heavenly in warmer weather. Our only negative was that the shower never got hot, and vacillated between lukewarm and cold. We never could figure out whether it was just a quirk of the Italian bathroom (which otherwise is wonderful and apparently recently renovated), or if we did something wrong in its use. Other than that, we felt it was a perfect stay and we'd happily go back any time. Recommended sites to visit, in addition to all the "must see" sites of Florence: the nearby church of Santa Felicita with its magnificent Pontormo painting, recently restored; Santa Croce, where Michelangelo and many other Italian greats are buried; the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, full of amazing artworks, Santo Spirito and Santa Maria del Carmine (both nearby), the Bardini gardens, and the Bargello Museum. SO many great restaurants, of course, but we loved the Trattoria Antico Fattore for delicious and authentic Tuscan cuisine. Cafe JR, just opposite the Pitti Palace, makes beautifully "decorated" cappuccinos in the morning. If you are shopping for jewelry, stay off the touristy Ponte Vecchio and head to a little shop on Via Lambertesca, 20/r, very near the bridge--the shop is called Matassini and they are a family-owned, old-world Florentine jeweler with good prices and beautiful jewelry of all kinds! [We are delighted you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for advising us about water heater issue, it has now been repaired and is working well now! The ItalyPerfect Team]

We spent a week in a wonderful, historic house, only a few meters away from the center of Florence with all its marvels, close to the river and to the ponte vecchio. A good super market is round the corner. Our contact with the agency and with the house owner was easy and absolutely friendly. If you stay in Florence in winter, you will have to pay a bit for the heating, because this comes apart. We would certainly book the house again.

The house was everything that we expected from the pictures. It felt like home during our 5 day stay. Maurizio made everything great from making recommendations for meals and visits to helping us book the taxi to the train station at the end of our stay. The attention to details in decorating the house, communicating before the visit, and greeting his guests were the best we have ever experienced in our years of traveling. Additionally the location is perfect, close to the bustle of Firenze but a cozy getaway during the hot summer afternoons. The house is perfect if one has no problems walking up steep cobblestone streets. It can be a hike at times but worth it.

My sister and I had a fabulous stay at Cassetta Bonsi in Florence! It was a week to remember in Florence, and the neighboring cities of Tuscany and Umbria, and having Cassetta to return to each day was a joy! This is a unique experience, indeed -- how a home from the 15th century can become the perfect place for today's memorable vacation. The home is beautiful, with every detail sheer perfection. Immaculate, with a lovely living room and fully equipped kitchen, and large bath with all the amenities you need. The beds were extremely comfortable, and we rested well after our long day of touring. The small terrace was charming, and a pleasant place to sit each morning with coffee, looking out to the rooftops in the neighborhood. The location can't be beat -- just across the Ponte Vecchio. It was so convenient-- very close to everything, but just far enough away from the busy crowds. Accessible, and private! We had excellent meals at restaurants recommended by Maurizio -- not a miss! Maurizio, our host, welcomed us with information about restaurants, transportation, sites we should be certain to include during our visit, and even wine, and fruit and pastries! He is a marvelous host, who welcomes you into his beautiful home like you're family! I wouldn't hesitate to visit again at Cassette Bonsi. It was the perfect place in Florence!Italy Perfect properties are select, charming, and totally accommodating to the traveler. I have had nothing but the best experiences with them, and highly recommend them! [Thank you Lynn, we are delighted you had a wonderful time and look forward to welcoming you again! This was our fourth time renting from Italy Perfect and we were again extremely satisfied with the service and our accommodations. The Casetta Bonsi was a charming small house in a great location. The hill was a bit daunting, but we knew about that ahead of time. Maurizio was a gracious host and assisted us in making dinner reservations for our first evening and making taxi reservations for our departure. He also made himself available for any questions we had. He has taken great pride in the renovations to the house which were clearly evident. He also welcomed us with a bottle of wine and some delicious pastries! We love Florence and particularly recommend a stroll through the Boboli and Bardini gardens which were a highlight of our trip. We couldn't have asked for a more picturesque home for our Florence stay or a better location. It was perfect in all aspects. The neat thing about Casetta is that it is so central but it still has such an authentic neighborhood feel. The gourmet supermarket nearby is really handy and there nice restaurants and cafe's within a 5 minute walk. Maurizio greeted us warmly and was so helpful. I'd also like to point out that in all my years of travel, Casetta Bonsi was the cleanest place I've ever stayed - such an attention to detail. Thank you Italy Perfect for taking such good care of us!

We arrived in Florence by train after five days in Venice staying at another Italy Perfect property. As usual Italy Perfect did not disappoint. The Casetta Bonsi was everything we hoped for. The owner/greeter met us at the agreed time. He welcomed us with a bottle of wine, sweets, fresh fruit and flowers. He gave us a complete walk around of his house and answered any questions we had. His home was spotless. Also little things that could be a problem were not an issue at the Casetta. We had ample water pressure, plenty of hot water, and a good supply of linens. He also had the heat turned on per my wife`s request. Bottom line everything was in working order. The location was within walking distance of all the major attractions (Duomo, Accademia, Uffizi etc.) One day we took a bus to Fiesole. Another day we went with Maurizio to wine country. He was very informative and great to be with.We made use of his restaurant recommendations and found some good ones on our own. We did not have a bad meal during our stay. Which brings me the to the steep incline to the Casetta. My wife and I are both in our late 60`s and it was not a problem for us (we both workout), but it could be a challenge for someone out of shape. We will continue to recommend Italy Perfect to anyone planning a trip to Italy. Thank you Lisa and thank you Maurizio.

Casetta Bonsi lives up to the name "Italy Perfect" - a perfect home away from home in Florence. Spacious accommodations comfortably furnished with all the amenities that you need, the house is ideal for two people. Situated in a quiet residential neighbourhood well away from the throngs of tourists, you can appreciate Florence as those who live here know it and yet just a two minute walk down the road and you are looking across the Arno River at the Ufuzzi directly in front of you. Head into the Oltrarno district (the south side and less touristy side of the Arno) and you can enjoy all the local stores and cafes. Cross the bridge and in less than ten minutes you are in the heart of Florence. Our charming host, Maurizio, could not have been more welcoming. He met us when we arrived, gave us a tour of the house and provided us with his personal guides to the neighbourhood, his recommendations for shopping and dining, and a detailed history of the house that he had written. And as an added touch, he left us with a bowl of fruit, a plate of candies, and a full canister of espresso to enjoy. Beautiful accommodations, a perfect location, and a charming host - all for less than the cost of a hotel room. What more could you want?

I am late in writing this review but better late than never! My husband and I stayed at Casetta Bonsi for 9 days in April and it was everything we could have hoped for. We have always been 'hotel' people so we were a little nervous but we didn't need to be. Lisa at Italy Perfect was very helpful and Maurizio was wonderful. He met us at the appointed time, showed us around, answered our many questions and was extremely pleasant. He left us a nice bottle of wine (which we enjoyed on the terrace the next day for lunch) as well as some delicious sweet treats. He was also kind enough to arrange a taxi for our departure to the train station. We found the house to be spotless, comfortable and spacious enough for 2 people. As others have stated, the location is great, away from the crowds but close enough to walk to the sights. I highly recommend both Italy Perfect and Casetta Bonsi if you're considering a trip to Florence. You won't be disappointed!

My girlfriend and I had such a fabulous time in Florence. We were greeted at the house upon our arrival and given the tour of the house and instructions. Maurizio was so pleasant and full of "inside" info on Florence. I slept on the pull out couch downstairs while my girlfriend took the upstairs bedroom. The sleeping arrangements were quite comfortable. The owners left us with a full bowl of fruit and a bottle of wine. Very generous. I had my breakfast each morning on the second floor veranda. It was so lovely. Listening to the church bells ring all over Florence on Sunday morning while having coffee was unbelievable.I'll never forget it.I thought the location of the house was perfect. It's a bit of a climb up the street but you are central to everything without the noise.I got lost once taking a stroll around but knew if I just got to the Ponte Vecchio I could get back.I loved that. Working with Lisa at Italy Perfect was a pleasure. She always got right back to me with any questions I had. I would definitely use Italy Perfect for future trips.

Grazie, Italy Perfect!! We have stayed in several apartments/houses on trips and this one was far and away the cream of the crop: Maurizio and Gabrielle clearly know how to make you at home from the soap at every sink to the nightlight in the bathroom. Nice quiet location but just steps from the Ponte Vechhio and the sights on the other side of the Arno. The hill is steep - especially after a long day of sight-seeing - but the payoff at the end is worth it. Maurizio had good shopping and restaurant suggestions - take his advice. Finally, if you love art, museums, and architecture and are planning on visiting lots of the sites in Florence, we can recommend getting the Firenze card. It's not cheap at 72 euros, but if you do your homework and decide which 3 successive days will be most advantageous, you can easily get your money's worth. The best part is that you get priority access so you'll spend less time standing in lines. Try to get to the most popular sites (Duomo, Accademia, Uffizi) right when they open and you should be able to just walk right in.

Casetta Bonsi is exactly as shown in the pictures. it is more like a 1 bedroom house. Maurizio is a fabulous host. I called Maurizio from the airport and he beat me to the apartment even though my taxi only took 20 minutes. I was cold the first morning I got to the Casetta so Maurizio came back and programmed the heat to come on in the morning and evening hours. Maurizio booked a cab for me when I left to go to the train station. I left my passport in the safe box (it is is in the Laundry room so don't forget like I did). I paid for Maurizio's taxi and he came to Santa Maria Novella to give it to me. Pretty fantastic service. The upstairs patio is lovely for a sunset view of the Palazzo Vecchio bell tower. The hill to the Casetta is short less than 100 meters but steep so I am not sure I would recommend it for folks over 70-75 unless you are in great shape. I am 65 and I was certainly winded the first time I did the hill. Each succeeding time was easier. Florence is fantastic and it is a fairly easy walk to all the great sights. Lisa at Italy Perfect was very helpful too.

Casetta Bonsi is the perfect retreat for two in busy Florence. It is perfectly located just a short way from the Ponte Vecchio in a charming miniature piazza in a lovely neighborhood. The Casetta is both cosy and surprisingly large. The renovations were done perfectly making a modern little home in an ancient location. Maurizio is the perfect host. From a great greeting with fresh flowers, fresh fruit and a bottle of wine to the taxi booking and personal send off on our departure morning , he made us feel very welcome and very special. The home itself was spotless and so well organized. Every little detail was done to perfection. In fact the place is so well outfitted and organized my wife and I decided we could live there comfortably for months at a time. The house is extremely quiet, something of a rarity in bustling Florence based on our previous 5 visits. It is also very well located. We walked everywhere. The recommended restaurants were close and also very good. We did venture further afield and had a lot of great meals. Reservations are essential unless you want to eat with tourists in subpar restaurants! We are a little hesitant to recommend this to others because we want to keep it for ourselves... Overall, it's the best place we have stayed in Florence. We will definitely stay there again when we make our next trip!

My husband and I spent a week at Casetta Bonsi and it is all that is advertised. This was our 5 time in Florence so we decided to stay across the river. We were greeted by Mauricio who told us everything we needed to know about the place and gave us a history of it as well. Ask him about it, it's a great story. Located just up small hill (walking it burned off our pasta and wine every night!) from the Ponte Vecchio, Bonsi has a well equipped kitchen, well lit bathroom and cozy bedroom. Since we spent a month in Italy, certain things were important: a dresser to put clothes and a place to hang some, a washer. Drying is not bad in winter if you put clothes on towel warmer or near a heater on a drying rack. The kitchen had what we needed...mostly. If you like ice, you can buy disposal bags at store to make it. There is a great grocery store down the hill and many restaurants nearby as well. It is decidedly less touristy on the other side of the river which is a plus as well. But a short walk across. Totally recommend touring Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens. Restaurants: Gusta Pizza is nearby as is one of our favorites, Pandemonio. Couple of things to keep in mind - you might have to pay a bit more for electricity at the end especially in winter but considering the price for the place, it's a a small amount. Make sure you read all from Italy Perfect - they do a great job of telling you what you need to know.[Thank you for your repeat business. It's always a pleasure to have you as our guest. We loved every minute of our time in Florence particularly our stay at Casetta Bonsi. The location was exceptional, being so close to most of the main sights and we walked everywhere, starting with the coffee and croissant run every morning. The house was charming and beautifully presented to a high standard, with everything we needed. It was a wonderful respite after a day's sightseeing. Local food store Sapori e Ditnorni provided an amazing range of food and wine, not to mention the tempting cake shops. A nearby dry cleaner was helpful after 6 weeks in Europe. The dining options were endless. The owners made us very welcome and responded quickly when I made a mistake with the TV. The bowl of fruit and biscuits which greeted us was much appreciated as were the local walks around Oltrarno - leaflets provided with the house. Proximity to the Bardini and Boboli gardens was a peaceful contrast to the city. Booking with Italy Perfect was simple and the detailed follow up ensured it all went smoothly. We wish we'd had longer.

My feedback is nothing but positive -- a 5 star review. First, you made it so easy transitioning to Italy from the US with detailed telephone instructions. I called Maurizio when we arrived and he and his daughter met us at the house. The cab ride was also easy, thanks to your clear directions, printed out in Italian. The home itself was charming, everything the other reviewers described. We had a lovely welcome basket of baked goodies waiting for us. The house was very comfortable and the decor charming. It was fun learning how to make Italian coffee on the Bialetti. I even bought one to take home! The Oltrano neighborhood was ideal. We could walk everywhere and see all of the museums, etc., but stayed on our side of the bridge for dinner. The restaurants in the Oltranno neighborhood were not full of tourists, and had better prices and better food. Casalinga was our favorite. Our favorite piazza in the City is Piazza Santo Spirito, a 5-10 minute walk from the apartment. We loved having wine at sunset up at the PIazza Michelangelo and strolling through the Boboli Gardens, right in our neighborhood. We had friends staying on the other side of the bridge and they came most nights to “our side" to get away from the crowds. I did not see their rentals, but they said ours was extremely large, quiet, and well appointed compared to the places they were staying. As you know, we had a little mishap on the last day in Florence, locking our key, and my phone with Maurizio’ contact information in the house. It was a holiday in Italy and a Sunday afternoon in the US. Nevertheless, we borrowed a very friendly neighbor’s computer and emailed Italy Perfect. We were able to get your number, called you, and you immediately responded. You got us in touch with Maurizio who drove an hour out of his way, on his holiday, to bring us the key! Meanwhile, some renters on our street, obviously not booked through Italy Perfect, had just flown in from the US. They were sitting on the curb with their suitcases, trying to contact the owners of their apartments. Needless to say, we were so grateful to have booked through Italy Perfect. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, Lisa and Maurizio. I will recommend the Casetta Bonsi to all of my friends.

Casetta Bonsi was much nicer than I expected from the pictures and reviews. It is extremely well kept. Everything worked well. Mauricio is the owner and also the greeter. He gave me a very thorough tour of how the place works and I appreciated that. I was able to settle right in and not spend time trying to figure things out.Casetta Bonsi is nicely decorated and the owners left us some treats like chocolate, ice cream for my kids and wine for me. I felt so welcome. The location is perfect because it is within walking distance of all the sites in Florence, but it is in a neighborhood so it is a little more quiet than it would be on the other side of the river. I thought people who complained about the steep hill were being wimps, but it really is a bit steep. If you have trouble walking it will be hard to get home after a long day of site seeing. I thought of the hill as a way to work off my gelato. Also, Casetta Bonsi is not that far up the hill and the hill keeps lots of people away, so it is quiet. Some of my favorite things about Casetta Bonsi was the little terrace. I liked having an outdoor space that was private to sit and have a coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. Otherwise, the bedroom was dark, comfortable and easy to sleep in. The bathroom is clean and new and a good size. We actually used the kitchen a lot. I did grocery store combat at the shop that is two blocks away. It is a very busy shop and not what I'm used to being from the U.S. The kitchen all works well and I made two full dinners in it. My kids slept in the living room. I have two teenagers. There was a twin bed that slides out from under the couch. One of my kids got that one and my other made up the couch. They were comfortable and next to the router. This house will exceed your expectations. I confidently recommend Casetta Bonsi.

This was the first time we rented an apartment during our travels. I have to say that up to the point of arrival, we were leery of what we would find. There was absolutely nothing to be concerned about. The greeter was extremely courteous and helpful, the apartment was even better than the pictures, and the location was superb. Just a small block down the hill are the markets, restaurants, the Arno, and the Ponte Vecchio. If we make it back to Florence, we will definitely be coming back to Casetta Bonsi. I will mention a couple of things for future guests there and perhaps a suggestion or two to the owner. It was unseasonably hot for June in Florence so do not hesitate to request the controllers activated for the air conditioners as they were an option for us and may incur added cost. Also the internet is dial up speed at best so bring an airport express extender or something similar. I would recommend the owner to install screens on the windows to keep the mosquitos out, they were vicious and closing the windows would seal in the heat. Be prepared for cars accelerating up the hill and sporadic loud engine noise as there is a small motorcycle parking area just outside the door. There are practically no views from the apartment, but the location is so good that the lack of them was of no consequence to us. Everything you need is there including an american style coffee maker. All in all, our experience was amazing! We will not hesitate to use Italy perfect in the future. We have already recommended the location to several of our friends. Note from Italy Perfect: To clarify for future guests, the internet is high speed, not dial-up, so we were surprised that this guest found it to be slow. As you can see from all the reviews, no other guest has ever complained about it. It is fine for email and checking the internet but not fast enough for watching movies or gaming. Windows screens are rare in Italy, very few homes have them.

Just wanted you to know how much we loved staying in the Casetta Bonsi. We thought the house was adorable and loved its location in a real neighborhood. The living room was attractive and cozy, and the kitchen was well equipped, except that there could be a few more wine glasses. We didn’t cook in the house, and only used the stove to boil water for tea, but there were plenty of pots and pans and enough workspace had we decided to cook meals there. The dishwasher worked well the one time we used it. During a hot spell in Florence, the house remained cool and comfortable. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was modern and well lit, and there was plenty of hot water in the shower. The little terrace was a wonderful place to sit and read and enjoy the view of the Palazzo Vecchio tower. Our only noise issue was the sound of motorcycles parked near the front door starting up in the morning, but we adjusted once we were over our jet lag. Maurizio could not have been a more gracious and accommodating host. We very much appreciated the gift of wine, cookies and fruit that were waiting for us in the house, along with all the information on visiting Florence. The one problem we had was finding a puddle of water by the washing machine one morning. We contacted Maurizio, and he had the situation (new washer had not been connected properly) corrected within 48 hours. We used the washer the next day, and there were no more leaks. Maurizio’s suggestions for restaurants were wonderful. We tried most of them, and especially loved Cinghiale Bianco, where we enjoyed two great dinners. We had breakfast every morning at the Open Bar, down the hill from the house, and within a few days we were recognized as regulars. Most of all, it was a treat leaving the tourist hordes behind and coming back up the hill every day to our own little house. We look forward to a return visit in the future. We were also very impressed with Italy Perfect and plan to use you again for our next trip to Italy. Thanks so much for providing such a great service.

The accommodation is comfortable, clean and attractive. The owners could not be more accommodating and friendly - I would recommend this to anyone

We have been to Florence several times, and the little house of Casetta Bonsi was perfect for us. It's in a fantastic location and very well kept. It was clean, secure, and yet had all the modern conveniences. It was literally minutes from a grocery store, and there are several wonderful coffee bars and restaurants in the vicinity. I would highly recommend this place for 2-4 people. There is only one bedroom.

My wife and I had a great week-long visit to Florence staying in Casetta Bonsi. The apartment is spacious with two floors. The second floor is a full floor with a large bedroom, bathroom and quaint terrace (this is not a loft). The street is quiet and only a few blocks from the Ponte Vecchio. The apartment was perfectly clean with everything we could have needed. We were able to walk to the main tourist attractions easily and return home to relax and re-energize. The restaurants in the neighborhood are wonderful and the area is not as overrun by tourists as the area across the Arno. Maurizio and his family are gracious hosts who helped us in innumerable ways, including helping us get to the airport on a morning when the city was closed to taxis and other cars due to the running of a marathon! We are hopeful to return to Florence and cannot imagine staying anywhere else.

We have visited Casetta Bonsi before and have always appreciated the warm welcome, the thoughtfulness of the hosts in the presentation of the casetta and their helpfulness with any query we have had, the clarity and usefulness of the information provided through the casetta, and the location in proximity to the many sights of Florence. We have already recommended this accommodation to family and friends and do not hesitate in writing this recommendation online. We do acknowledge that if mobility is an issue, then some consideration would be needed in regard to the hill up to the casetta and the steps within the casetta itself. There are many restaurants, gardens, museums and other places of interest within easy walking distance, or, if in need of a little quiet time, there is a small but peaceful terrace at the casetta. We walked everywhere, but there is access to the local electric bus line just at the bottom of the hill. There is a very well stocked supermarket close to hand, and we also enjoyed visiting the outdoor food market across the river, recommended by our hosts, with its amazingly fresh and affordable produce. The highest recommendation we can give is that if we ever have the good fortune to visit Florence in the future, we hope very much to be able to return to the beautiful Casetta Bonsi. Thank you Italy Perfect and to everyone associated with Casetta Bonsi.

Casetta Bonsi may be the best private apartment we have rented in our travels. The owners provided for every need, comfort and convenience within a classic Tuscan design with modern features. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bedroom was comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. We enjoyed the upper terrace for breakfast, afternoon appetizers and wine, and when we dined in. While the apartment's location provides easy access to the Ponte Vecchio, guests should find time to explore and enjoy the Oltrarno neighborhoods. We highly recommend the Lungaro Bistrot for dinner along the Arno River and he Enoteca Pitti Gola e Cantina for lunch across from the Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens. We would return to Florence for a third visit just to stay at the Casetta Bonsi again.

This is a wonderful accommodation in Firenze. It is a small house just a short walk from the Ponte Vecchio so it is centrally located to all the sites in Florence. The apartment is very well appointed in every way with all the necessities in both the kitchen and bath. A warm touch was the bottle of wine and basket of fruit when we arrived. The terrace overlooks a lovely garden. We found this apartment to be a little oasis in the heart of Florence. Our hosts were very thoughtful and attentive to any needs and requests we had. We would stay there again in a minute!

We loved staying at Casetta Bonsi. Ideally located to see all of Florence--the central squares as well as the L'Oltrarno. Maurizio was the perfect host with lots of suggestions of where to visit, eat, sightsee. Loved the restaurants recommended by him, particularly Il Bordino. The furniture in the Casetta was particularly nice--wonderful wood armoires and cabinets. The bed was very comfortable (as was the pull-out couch.) Our only minor complaint was that the pillows are too foamy--would be great to get some softer ones. We would definitely recommend Italy Perfect to a friend!

We had a fabulous time in Firenze thanks to Italy Perfect and Maurizio and his wife. It was my first time in Europe and I was very nervous about arrival, getting around, etc. but Maurizio was clocking our plane's arrival and he contacted me before I got off the plane. Everything went prefectly. We loved the house and neighborhood. We even met another client of yours as he walked by on day while in Firenze to take in old memories, a college arts professor/travel group leader from Florida and England. He loves the place too. We hope to return to Florence sooner rather than later. Until then, ciao and grazie!

As our train was arriving in Florence/Firenze, I called our host and upon our arrival by taxi at Casetta Bonsi, he was waiting on us as agreed. Our host spent time with us explaining everything we needed to know for an enjoyable week at Casetta Bonsi, plus he walked with us to show us where the grocery store and some delightful restaurants were located. Our stay at Casetta Bonsi could not have been more perfect, which made our stay in Florence/Firenze stress free and provided us a week of wonderful memories. At Casetta Bonsi, we had all the comforts of home and from its location, we walked everywhere we wanted. Our host arranged for a taxi to meet us on our day of departure and he was there to say "Goodbye" when we left. Our week "flew by" and I only wish we had stayed longer. I hope to return Casetta Bonsi again, for it was a perfect week!

Casetta Bonsi Review

This small house was as good as we could possibly have hoped for our stay in Florence. The house itself is spacious, immaculately clean, and well-furnished. We particularly enjoyed the terrace on the second floor. There is a washing machine, which we used twice -- this is something any traveler will appreciate. The kitchen is small but quite functional. Our hosts were extremely welcoming. They gave us a bottle wine, fruit, some chocolates, and flowers, together with suggestions about restaurants, stores, and other things in the neighborhood. We had all the supplies we needed, and usually take for granted --- dishwashing soap, laundry detergent, tablets for the dishwasher. Great towels, too. The location was, for our purposes, ideal, in the Oltrarno, away from the dense concentrations of tourists in the Centro Storico. It is perhaps 300 meters from the Palazzo Pitti, 150 from the south end of the Ponte Vecchio, another 600 or 700 meters from the start of the walk to the Piazzale Michelangelo, and not far from the entrance to the Bardini Gardens, off the Via de Bardi. We found several outstanding restaurants and shops in the Oltrarno, some very close, others within easy walking distance. At night, other than the usual city noises, it was quiet. And since the house stands alone, on its own plot of ground, there were no residents above and below us. So -- a private house, on a quiet side street, in Florence, a few minutes' walk from the Uffizi, the Piazza della Signoria, from osterias and trattorias and restaurants that never fail to delight -- you could hardly do better. We have already recommended Italy Perfect to our friends and will continue to do so. Not everyone wants to travel as we do -- most of the people we know go on guided tours, with essentially everything arranged for them, lodging, transportation, meals. We prefer to travel on our own. We were particularly impressed with the information that Italy Perfect provided for us, about the house, the locality, telephones, travel tips, and recommendations. In short, we felt we were at home. When we returned to the house after a day in the city, and turned the key in the door, it was like coming home.

The location is perfect - close to the Ponte Vechio and an excellent little supermarket. Great restaurants overlooking the Arno only a couple of minutes away. Most of the main sights are in easy walking distance. The house is ideal for a couple. Rooms are a good size and very well furnished. There were fresh flowers in every room and fruit and wine left for us. The owner is very helpful in welcoming us and organizing taxis. We were there for five nights. We had been to Florence a couple of times before, but just for a couple of days. Still so much more to see. We will be going back again to this house again! Incidentally for anyone going to Florence from the UK the flight from London City Airport is really good!

The accommodation was just as we hoped - we couldn't fault it. Casetta Bonsi is ideally placed - very close to the Ponte Vecchio yet far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet. Not too much of a walk up the steepish road behind Casetta Bonsi are the Bardini Gardens which enjoy a beautiful view over Florence. As we stayed in Florence for almost two weeks we found the "Friends of the Uffizi" pass worked well. It allowed us to visit the Uffizi as many times as we wished. Entrance for "Friends" is through Door 2 and on the occasions we visited we went quickly through. Door 2 also leads to the "Friends" Office where the passes can be purchased. The pass also gives free access to the Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens, Bardini gardens, the Accademia and a number of other galleries. The Café "O" opposite the Sapori supermarket serves delicious coffee, sandwiches and cannolis. The price is not expensive unless you sit at the tables by the windows looking onto the Arno. Since arriving home we have recommended Casetta Bonsi and Italy Perfect to our friends.

I am very happy that a friend recommended VRBO and then Italy Perfect to find accommodations for our trip to Firenze (Florence). We traveled there to see our daughter who is studying at Kent State University's Florence campus. Lisa from Italy Perfect was awesome to work with as we had lots of questions and she answered them all and helped us find the Casetta Bonsi. When we arrived at the Casetta, the owner Maurizio was there to greet us and give the tour and explain everything about our house to us. He was also very informative about the area. The Casetta was in a great location on the less busy south side of the Arno River a couple blocks from the Ponte Vecchio. There were lots of things to do and places to eat on our side of the river and everything we wanted to see was in close walking distance. Our house was very comfortable and much nicer and roomier than a hotel would have been. We highly recommend Italy Perfect and the Casetta Bonsi.

In addition to the beautiful and welcoming furnishings, the wine, pastries, fruit and candy provided were a thoughtful surprise. The location is ideal - off of a quiet street and near the Ponte Vecchio and many restaurants and shops. We walked everywhere and nothing seemed too far. We loved many nearby restaurants - Casalinga, Quattro Leone, Osteria del Cinghale Bianco, Gusta pizza were some favorites. Cantina del Gelato was a daily stop as well. We would recommend Casetta Bonsi and Italy Perfect to anyone seeking a wonderful Florence experience. We hope to return soon!

The house in Florence was an ideal first stop location in Italy. I suffer greatly from jet lag and the ability to get up and go downstairs in the middle of the night in a comfortable home setting is ideal. The house is comfortable, near all sites and spacious for Italy. Its only 3 blocks from the ponte vecchio so not as noisy as central Florence but buses and garbage trucks do start early in all cities. The coffee bar recommended by the owner was really good for both breakfast and apperitivo. Its a close walk over to the Pitti Palace and Bobili Gardens. Fall is colder than I would have expected (I'm from the desert) so an extra couple of blankets would have been ideal for me since there is no heat available until Nov 1st [per Italian law - IP]. Owner met us and showed us all around & how things worked. The small wall safe was really a nice extra. We would definitely stay here again.

Casetta Bonsi was truly a "hidden gem" of a house in the middle of a tiny cobblestone street among Florence Apartments. The house was 5 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio, Ufizzi, and easy access to Florence's main tourist attractions. Actually we walked almost everywhere, even to Santa Maria Novella church near the train station. The owner, Maurizio was a sweet man. He helped us with our taxi arrangements, recommended restaurants and went out of his way to find some information for us. Casetta Bonsi was roomy and comfortable and felt like home, a nice place to come home to every night. We loved Florence, the end to a perfect 3 week vacation in Italy. Recommended restaurants in the area: Casalinga, and the ones on the sheet Maurizio gives you. If you plan to visit at least 8 or so museums and churches, buy the Firenze pass, (at Door #2 of the Uffizi). You will skip the lines and it is well worth it!! Lisa at Italy Perfect was excellent, booking was easy and she provided a lot of valuable information for the Florence area. We would highly recommend Casetta Bonsi and we hope to return soon!!!

Cassetta Bonsi was exactly as advertised. It was a lovely, charming home in a central location. The owner, Maurizio, was very accomodating and welcoming. He and his wife thought of everything a visitor to Florence would need. One thing I really appreciated were the household items one usually needs to purchase for a vacation rental - toilet paper, soap, kitchen products were already there. I would definitely recommend (and use for future visits) Cassetta Bonsi and Italy Perfect.

We stayed at Cassetta Bonsi in early September. The location is ideal for seeing all of the Florence sights. The house is extremely well maintained and the owner is very helpful. His English is excellent and he will arrange for a cab to pick you up when you depart. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a nice little balcony to have an an espresso and croissant in the morning or a glass of wine and some cheese in the evening. We didn't cook in, but you could in this house. The only negative is that to get to the house there is a rather steep hill of about 50 yards to climb. The cabs will drop you off and pick up at the door, but otherwise you will have to climb the hill. It's good for working off all of the great meals that you will be consuming. There are a number of good restaurants in the Oltrano District and in the evenings, it's a little quieter than the north side of the Arno. The owner has a list of restaurants. Also there is a grocery store just down the street, along with several bakeries, and a good gelato shop. Everything that you will need is just a short walk away. We would strongly recommend Cassetta Bonsi. It's a winner. We would also recommend that you buy the Firenze Museum Card. It's 72 Euros and good for three days and will work in most of the museums. It doesn't save you much money, but it's allows you to bypass all of the lines, except for the Duomo. A great way to see this part of Italy is to spend 3 or 4 days in Florence and then rent a villa in the South Central part of Tuscany. We day tripped for 5 days and saw all the significant Tuscan towns. Take your GPS loaded with a European map and driving is not a problem. We tried to stay on the back roads whenever possible. We stayed about 30 miles south of Florence at Casa Rossa, which is another Italy Perfect property. I have now rented 3 properties from this company. 2 from Italy Perfect and 1 from Paris Perfect. I strongly recommend using this company. They are most helpful and so far, I've been very happy with their properties.

Casetta Bonsi is perfectly located for our needs. It is on a quiet street only a four minute walk from the Ponte Vecchio, gateway to the old town and the main attractions of Florence. Because it is outside of the tourist center it is peaceful but the Uffizi Gallery is only a 10 minute stroll away across the bridge. The neighborhood felt very safe. Florence experienced record heat during our stay. We used the bedroom air conditioner at night and were very comfortable. The rest of the house was pleasant in mornings and evenings without AC. It is spacious and well appointed for travelers. The kitchen, living room, bathroom were very nice. There is a wall safe and clothes washer that were very handy. Our host/owner/greeter was warm and friendly, gave us lots of useful information about the surroundings, went to great lengths to work with our schedule, and was otherwise unobtrusive. He went out of his way to help me deal with Italian bureaucracy. We ate at local restaurants suggested by our host. They were all good, but we fell in love with one he listed, La Casalinga. Just up the street from the Casetta is the beautiful Bardini Gardens, well worth the walk. The Boboli Gardens, adjacent to the Pitti Palace, are close by. The Bardini are much better. Must-see tourist attractions are the Ufizzi Gallery and Michelangelo's David. The Galileo Science Museum is worth a visit. Jewelry shopping on the Ponte Vecchio is a must, and shops selling Italian shoes and clothing are in the neighborhood.

The house was perfect - immaculately clean and modern, located a few blocks from the Ponte Vecchio and the Arno River, and near the city center. It was only about a 5 minute walk to the Uffizi Museum and was close to a market, restaurants, and most conveniences that a traveler might need. Our stay was wonderful. Our favorite restaurants in the Oltrano section are Bordino's, La Mangiatoia (very local), I-Tarocchi. We also like Il Caminetto which is near the Duomo. For great ceramics and friendly service, I recommend A. Carnesecchi, Marino Mazierli located at Via Guicciardini, 4R in Florence. For gelato, Cantina Del Gelato at Via De Bardi, 31 is outstanding.

As two sisters who travel everywhere we felt Casetta Bonsi was perfect for us. The location was in the best area being only five minutes to Ponte Vecchio and only half and hour to saunter to the train station. Maurizio and Gabriella were wonderful hosts who welcomed us with a package of fresh fruit, wine, pastry and fresh flowers. Maurizio gave us information about the local area and suggested the nearby travel agent instead of queueing at the station to book our train tickets for our onward journey. This was so easy to do for only a 2 euro fee. We bought our groceries and some ready to eat meals at the S&D supermarket at the bottom of our street. The restaurant Alfredo over the Arno had a wonderful view of Ponte Vecchio and we only had to walk up the hill to our home afterwards. We would certainly recommend Italy Perfect to anyone thinking of visiting Florence and would love to stay in Casetta Bonsi again.

Casetta Bonsi was perfect for our week stay in Florence. We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers. Even though it is cozy for 4, it worked out well. The sleeping option is great - the sofa turns into two separate single beds, easy to arrange, easy to put away. The owner, Maurizio, was extremely gracious and gave us a thorough tour of the house. The welcome gift of wine, fruit, goodies and flowers was greatly appreciated after a day of travel. Their info list has great suggestions. The high-end market is only 5 minutes away. There's an ATM just down the hill. We always ate breakfast at the house and even cooked a few dinners. We found the kitchen fully-stocked and extremely clean. Everything was extremely clean and welcoming. Casetta is up a steep hill - not appropriate for all, but great for keeping down the crowds and for working off the gelato. The location couldn't be better. We loved wandering the Oltrarno neighborhood. Great sites, craftsmen stores, window shopping with not so many tourists. Fabulous gelato and restaurants near by. We especially enjoyed La Casalinga and Il Cantinone (you need reservations). Golden View Open Bar, just down the hill, is more expensive but has great food, amazing views (reserve a window table for a view of the Arno and Ponte Vecchio) and jazz most nights in one of the dining rooms. Don't miss the Brancacci Chapel with Masaccio's frecoes (reservations required). The church is also interesting with fabulous perspective art. We found the Florence Card invaluable to avoid lines and to save money. There's the added benefit that we went into some sites for a quick visit that we would have skipped had they not been free. Italy Perfect was amazing. Lisa helped me select Casetta and gave me loads of useful suggestions. The materials Italy Perfect sends after you reserve with them are thorough and very practical (using a phone, what to expect). Casetta Bonsi is a great house in the perfect location. We highly recommend staying in Casetta Bonsi - near all the sites, but in a "real" neighborhood in a real house.

We stayed in Florence in November 2012, and rented Casseta Bonsi. We arrived by train from Sorrento. We got a cab from the train station, just a short ride to the apartment. The owner was great and showed us around. It was nice to be able to spread out and overall the apartment was quiet, except there were some ladies at an adjacent apartment that were quite loud into the night. But that is not the fault of Casseta Bonsi. There is a sweet little terrace but we spent 95% of our time outside of the apartment we never used it. The shower was a bit tricky, I found myself fiddling with the water temp quite a bit even though we followed the directions of the owner precisely. The owners left us a nice bottle of wine and pastries, as well as flowers in the rooms. Very nice. Dined at a restaurant called Open Bar (right around the corner) and it was delicious. A super short walk to the Ponte Vecchio and over the river to other sights. Would stay in that location again for sure. Italy Perfect was very thorough and helpful with all my questions, I would definitely book with them again.

This was our second stay at the beautiful Casetta and hopefully not our last. We truly feel at home there and this is thanks to the thoughtfulness of Maurizio and Gabrielle, our wonderful hosts who think of all the things required to make a traveller's stay comfortable. Our special treats on arrival were very much appreciated. Casetta Bonsi is also one of the cleanest apartments we have ever stayed in. It is handy to have the kitchen with its many untensils to cook in if the occasion arises, and also the washing machine. There are also many restaurants and cafes to choose from within walking distance, but if you do want to cook there is a supermarket just down the hill with a very wide range including much fresh Tuscan produce. There is also a very good gelataria near the supermarket as well. The neighbourhood is quiet and safe and we enjoyed walking to the Bardini & Boboli Gardens, which are just up the hill. There is a little terrace in the Bardini Gardens where you can get a coffee or wine and look out over a terrific view of Florence. We walked everywhere from the Casetta. There is so much to see and do and it is especially rewarding to get out early and investigate the city before it becomes crowded. If you enjoy art, a visit to the Convent of San Marco to see the Fra Angelico paintings was very enjoyable. We got there first thing when it opened and had the place to ourselves for some time. The short bus trip up the hill to Fiesole is also good to do on a clear day. The Santa Croce Basilica is also amazing and the attached leather school interesting to visit. We highly recommend Casetta Bonsi and dream of returning in the future. Thank you also to Italy Perfect for all your valued assistance.

We arrived in Florence at 12.30pm, resigned to the fact that we would be waiting until 5pm to see Casetta Bonsi, as this is the usual check-in time. Therefore we were over the moon when Maurizio phoned me as the train pulled into the station to say that everything was ready for us. He and his wife Gabrielle were waiting for us, and showed us around the house, explaining things as they went. We loved the extra touches such as the bathroom, kitchen and laundry supplies, and of course the welcome wine and biscuits. Casetta Bonsi is very close to the Ponte Vecchio, grocery store, restaurants and souvenir shops but is very quiet. It is comfortably furnished and has a lovely little balcony perfect to sit and relax. We ate out every night, using the list Maurizio gave us as our guide, and enjoyed each dining experience. We'll be recommending Casetta Bonsi to our friends, and hope to stay here again if we return to Florence.

Casetta Bonsi and the owner's provide a perfect stay in Florence. The apartment is in a fabulous location and packed with helpful information. It is truly just like being at home. Maurizio is so helpful and available for your every need. Italy Perfect is absolutely the best online site for accommodations and have all the information you need to travel to Italy. We will use them again when traveling abroad. One thing I would do differently is to make sure I had a very good walking map and stop at the official Tourist office to obtain a bus schedule and information on the bus line.

Casetta Bonsi Review

by Dan Fleet
Casetta Bonsi was exactly as advertised. Small, comfortable, clean, excellent location with an owner who goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and point out the best local restaurants and food markets. We spent 4 nights here with our two teenage daughters, in late June during a period of very hot weather. While the house is small for a party of 4, perfect for a couple, it was nevertheless quite comfortable and surprisingly cool despite the heat. The downstairs living room has a couch that converts to a bed as well as a trundle bed, both quite comfortable. The downstairs kitchen, quite well equipped, has the added advantage of a door allowing for quiet access if the guests in the living room are still sleeping. The upstairs master bedroom is spacious and has both a comfortable large bed and air conditioning. The bathroom is upstairs as well, large enough with a good power shower. The balcony just off the master bedroom is a lovely and tranquil addition, though no view. The location, just a five minute walk from the Ponte Vecchio, is exceptional. We were a short walk to all the major sights across the Arno, but far enough away from the throngs of tourists to enjoy peace and quiet during our evenings at the house. We did quite a bit of food and beverage shopping at the outstanding Sapori e Dintorni market just steps from the house. The owner's recommended restaurants, all within 10 minutes walk from the house, were quite good with several offering menus in English. The owner, Mariano, was extremely professional, very helpful and fluent in English. We highly recommend Casetta Bonsi and will most certainly stay there again during a future visit.

Casetta Bonsi Review

by Susan McCreight
This little house is a hidden gem on what is perhaps the tiniest piazza in Italy. A beautifully maintained residence with a lovely living/dining room, excellent kitchen well-outfitted, and a little laundry room. Upstairs is the lovely private terrace, the comfortable and pretty bedroom and first rate bath. My host Maurizio is charming and gracious and helpful. There was wine, a little tray if delicious cookies and even a fancy chocolate by the bedside with a welcome note from Maurizio and his wife. There is a very short walk up a slightly steep street that was no issue. Everything is super, super convenient yet I felt totally removed from the crowds. Good supermarket very close, lots to see and many good restaurants. It is a perfect home in Florence!

Casetta Bonsi Review

by Katie and Aunt Mary
We enjoyed our stay at Casetta Bonsi immensely. The location and surrounding area are perfectly situated for getting a sense of old Florence without sacrificing creature comforts. There is an excellent grocery, florist, restaurant (the Golden View), and cafe (Cafe Ponte Vecchio) nearby. It was a joy to cross the Ponte Vecchio each day to go into the heart of Florence on foot to see the treasures. If you live in Casetta Bonsi for a week you will get lots of exercise climbing the hill as you return from your adventures each day. If you're out of shape, you'll stop to rest halfway up for the first couple of days; but by the third day you'll be ecstatic that you can make the climb in one stretch! We recommend purchasing a Firenze Card online in advance. It makes your major museum access simple and speedy. Italy Perfect and Maurizio, owner of Casetta Bonsi, work together to insure your visit to Florence IS perfect. Ciao

Casetta Bonsi Review

by Lou & John
Florence is a mad bustling city but this Casetta felt like an escape and some tranquility when we needed it. Maurizio is lovely and showed us everything we needed and got us settled In well. Also thank you to Gabriela your wife who was responsible for the little touches around the place that made it feel like home. The red wine and little treats we're muchly appreciated. The Casetta is homey but perfectly functional. We ate here at least once every day. The kitchen has everything you could ever need for meals while on holiday. To sum up as I am waffling. Did we enjoy our stay here.. Yes.. Would we stay here again equally yes. Negatives.. Well it can be a little noisy but that's what you get if you want to be in the thick of it all.. Again thank you both and extra thank you to Lisa at Italy Perfect who was fab.

Awesome ancient bridge over Florence's Arno river that has survived 800 years. Famous for the shops of goldsmiths along its length.
Boboli Gardens (10 mins Walk)
Expansive and beautiful gardens behind the famous Pitti Palace with statues including the fat man (Bacchus) on the turtle.
Piazza della Repubblica (10 mins Walk)
A great piazza of Florence. The shape reflects its role as the forum in Roman times. Now it has fine palaces and a triumphal arch and colonnaded sidewalks. You will see street artists, impromptu musical performances and a colorful merry-go-round. Glitterati in the fancy cafes.
Pitti Palace (10 mins Walk)
The famous Medici family's home, it is a large museum with many fascinating galleries. It opens to the large Boboli gardens that may be visited separately. I the origin of the Vasari Corridor, an enclosed, protective "bridge" between the palace and the Medici offices at the Uffizi.
Uffizi Gallery (10 mins Walk)
One of the greatest museums in the world. The defining collection of Renaissance art. A tour is recommended.
Duomo (15 mins Walk)
