A charming little villa, Luna is the exquisite guest house tucked into the extensive and beautiful gardens of a Liberty style villa with pool. Walk to restaurants!

Location

Located in the exclusive Sant`Agnello district of fabled Sorrento, Luna is one block from the sea where you have access to gorgeous views up and down the rugged coast. At the end of the street there is a large terrace where you can enjoy the views while lingering at a table serviced by the cafe. Continue down the steps and ramp or elevator to the water where you may purchase a day pass to a typical beach club for enjoyment of the warm, clear Mediterranean waters. The beach club is used by local residents and guests from nearby hotels.

From the property, you see the green trees but you cannot see the sea.

Sant`Agnello is a part of the town of Sorrento. It has its own little train station on the Circumvesuviana train which links you to Naples via Pompeii, Herculaneum and the other towns on the route to and from Naples. You can drive, walk 20 minutes or take the local bus into the bustling center of Sorrento. An automobile is handy, but not necessary. You can walk into the center of Sant`Agnello, a 15 minute walk, taking a taxi when dealing with luggage. We enjoy the walk through the neighborhood.

Exterior

Luna is a stand-alone villa with beautiful architectural style and design. It is hidden among the green gardens at the back of a larger, gated estate. The extensive gardens ensure privacy from the main house.

A lovely shared swimming pool graces the garden. The pool is shared by the family of the owner of the main house who uses it only occasionally.

Interior

Enter Luna through beautifully designed doors into the cozy living room. A comfortable sofa and easy chair grouping face a working fire place. Light fills the room from the front doors and matching ones at the far, dining end of the long room. The selection of fine furniture, fabrics and decorating demonstrates fine taste.

Off the dining room is a large, cook`s kitchen decorated with personality with bright, local tiles. Everything is up to date in the kitchen. At the back of the kitchen is a utility room with a washing machine.

Exit the dining room onto a dining terrace and enjoy the cool, verdant surrounding gardens. A spiral iron staircase rises from the patio to a rooftop terrace with built in lounges for taking the sun and enjoying the view over the wall to neighboring villas.

As you climb the stairs to the second floor of the villa, you will find a series of small, artful windows that frame pretty views.

Delightful House

by Cynthia Conger

We loved staying in this house. The house easily accomodated three women. Hairdryers in both bath rooms Our only negative was that we had to buy paper products - no tissues (did have toilet tissue), no napkins/papertowels in the kitchen and only one cloth towel. We would have been fine with cloth napkins, but there was nothing. I know it sounds picky but it was an irritant. Other than that it was wonderful, and the grounds were incredible. We got there in early October so it was too cool for us to swim, but the pool was lovely! [We are delighted you so enjoyed the house and your stay. Very sorry you couldn't find the paper items. The manager would have popped over with those items in minutes had you called. The Italy Perfect Team]

We'd Rent It Again.

by Jeff

A little quirky but a lovely accommodation.  The kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms etc were just fine.  Walking distance to many nice places to eat.  Note that this area is basically a series of cliffs or plateaus if you will, so in spite of what the map appears to show, you can't walk a block to the beach as you might in many seaside communities.  (we knew this, but don't be surprised). If you arrive in a car, the driveway entrance is very (very!) tight. We had rented a Volvo V60 wagon and it would just fit. The street is narrow and busy, so it's a challenge to get into the driveway as you have to move back and forth several times in order to line up to get into the driveway.  Once you arrive, it's a short walk to the train station. However you'll need to use a car for any extensive grocery shopping as it's not really walking distance if you plan to carry anything heavy. The local Conad is a short drive and has a parking lot - which is important as street parking in town is very difficult and you'd need to go to a paid lot. Minor nits:  no outside lights are on at night so when arriving in foot (like after dinner) we had to use our phones' flashlights to see where we were going. The foliage on the footpaths to the apartment are very overgrown and it's like pushing your way thru the jungle in certain sections.  There's no dryer. To air dry clothes you'd need to carry them up a narrow spiral staircase to the roof deck which is above the second floor.  We used a local lavanderia which I'd recommend driving to and parking in the paid lot across the street for a euro or two. Be aware that getting laundry done that way on weekends is generally impossible. All in all though it's quirky but very nice. We'd rent it again. Our issues with the place are quite minor.  [Thank you for your repeat business. We are pleased you enjoyed the wonderfully private Luna villa, and the walkability to many nice restaurants and the welcome hosts and their helpful secretary. It is accurate that there is no clothes dryer, as stated in the Luna description on the website, clothes dryers are still relatively uncommon in Italy. The Italy Perfect Team]

Perfect Place To Return To

by Anne White

This well-situated guest cottage was the perfect place to return to each day--quiet, shady, and clean. Our two sons loved the pool in the mornings. The owners have done a lovely job providing the ideal rental for a couple or a small family. The kitchen had everything we needed, and we also could walk out a few minutes and arrive at a stunning overlook of the sea and sunset.  [Thank you Anne, we are pleased you enjoyed staying at the Luna! Cool, Quiet, and Comfortable.

by Diane C.

I rented Luna for a week to explore the area, with my son who was on fall break from his study abroad program in Florence. It was a perfect little oasis of peace for some restful days, and a well-located base for exploring the area.  We were glad we had a car, because although we tried the buses, we ended up walking a lot because we couldn't always figure out the system. And trains that service the area were not running on "our" schedule. The location of Luna is great for running into Naples, Herculaneum, Pompei, and Mt Vesuvius. In the other direction, Sorrento is close (and walkable), and the ferry to Capri is lots of fun (we did a day trip and thoroughly enjoyed it).  Luna is a small house on the grounds of an elegant villa. It is cool, quiet, and comfortable. The two bedrooms are spacious and for the two of us, the living/dining area was quite adequate. We appreciated the washing machine and prepared several meals in the cute kitchen. There is a lovely pool in the back, surrounded by tall trees and although we didn't swim in November, it is peaceful and beautiful to relax in the back. There are nice restaurants in the area (one across the street has excellent pizza; and the smoothie shop next door is perfect for tea and croissants). And there are grocery stores within a 10-minute walk for replenishing supplies. We found this Italy Perfect property to be similar in (high) quality to other Italy Perfect, London Perfect, and Paris Perfect properties in the same price range. We love renting through this agency--they usually get it right. We look forward to returning to Luna![Thank you so much Diane, we look forward to welcoming you back! The Italy Perfect Team]

Quiet Oasis

by Cece

This lovely villa, a few minutes' walk from the Bay of Naples and it's stunning views, was a quiet oasis - hidden from the street, surrounded by a tropical garden of palms and lemon tree. Our villa was spotless and well-appointed, and the rooftop deck offered sunshine and a view of Mt Vesuvius.  This is a very nice neighborhood, surrounded by homes and beautiful hotels with lots of dining options and a lively town square. We enjoyed the quieter vibe yet found it very accessible to Sorrento town center; an easy 20 minute stroll. We would highly recommend for a unique and enjoyable experience. The sidewalks are quite narrow - some with trees in the center - so the walk from the train with luggage may not be for everyone. The door-to-door bus or a taxi/driver might be more enjoyable. The recommended driver, Giovanni, was wonderful; he drove us to/from airport and proved to be a great guide for an unforgettable day trip along the Amalfi Coast.  As expected, the Italy Perfect team delivered a fabulous experience and we can't wait to try their other properties.[Thank you Cece, we look forward to welcoming you back again! Gorgeous Piece of Heaven on Earth

by Selcan

We had a great time at Luna. The villa is exactly the same as the website pictures, walking distance to Sant'Agnello downtown and even to Sorrento.  Villa has a gorgeous garden and a swimming pool though we preferred to swim in the ocean. There is a major mosquito problem though, make sure you stock insect repellents and keep the screen doors closed at all times. Surrounding area is beautiful and very easy to reach by car - only caveat was that we rented a SUV which was a big mistake considering tiny parking area in front of the villa and winding one lane roads of Sorrentian peninsula and Amalfi coast.  Pompeii is close by and a must do.  Don't miss Positano, the only town in the world that grew vertically!!  We did the private boat cruise to Capri.  For swimming go to the beach right by Villa Angelina at Messa Lubrense - beautiful quaint beach where mostly locals enjoy.  Amalfi is OK but Ravello is another must - especially make sure you get on the Infinity terrace at Villa Cimbrone. This is the second time we are renting from Italy perfect and it all worked great as before. I'd highly recommend Luna to anyone who wants to be local in this gorgeous piece of heaven on earth. [Thank you, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay! The Italy Perfect Team]

Wonderful Home Base

by Jaime Cox

The Luna Villa is a wonderful home base for anyone visiting the Amalfi Coast!  The location was breathtaking and the sunsets spectacular.  It was closer to the water than I imagined.  We highly recommend an all day sailboat adventure to Capri or beyond, with Amadeo. One of the highlights of our trip! We found his information at the villa.  The hosts were very warm and friendly. The internet went down, but they took care of the problem quickly.  They also repaired the oven, so we could use it.  We had difficulty getting the washing machine to work, but found a laundry service down the street.  We were a family of five and it was a bit cozy, but we were grateful the owners accommodated us.  The villa would be perfect for four people.  There was a problem settling the bill for the extra person on the final day, but a call to Pat in Boston fixed everything (she speaks Italian).  I would definitely recommend Italy Perfect for discerning travelers. Villa Set In "Paradise"

by Mickey, Monte, Marilyn & Bo

We want to share with you the most wonderful time we had staying at this villa set in "paradise". We had a superb and memorable time throughout the landscape of the Amalfi Coast. Everyday day Monte and myself and Marilyn and Bo, our friends, toasted to having another "day in paradise".Monte captured many images of the area which will certainly always remind us of the Italy experience.  Thank you for all your diligence in making the trip come to fruition. Thoroughly Enjoyed

by Allison

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Luna.  The referral to the ground transportation company was a life saver as we did not rent a car for our stay (it is so well situated that we walked everywhere). The house was beautifully furnished.  One helpful tip is to provide luggage racks as there isn't much in the way of storage and it prevents folks from putting dirty suitcases on furniture.  The kitchen was used during our stay and we loved cooking from the fresh, local ingredients. Having the beach club half a block away as well as the bus was very convenient yet the location was quiet and peaceful.  Our son swam in the pool and it was great fun. Our trip highlights were Sorrento itself and the ferry to Capri to experience the Blue Grotto. A word to the wise, pay for a taxi to Positano or take the ferry; the bus experience is grim if anyone gets motion sick. The addition of the screens for the windows and sliding doors was greatly appreciated. We look forward to our return visit and thank Italy Perfect and our hosts for making our stay so enjoyable!  [Thank you so much Allison. We are all so happy to hear about your outstanding stay. Unforgettable

by Frank and Andrea B

Our stay at Luna was unforgettable.  Set back behind high walls and and antique iron gatesM a most beautiful cottage set apart from the villa.  The property is a hidden oasis within Sorrento, lush and private.  The guest house is beautifully appointed and well maintained, with a sparkling swimming pool on the property.  The cottage is well away from the busy tourist attractions, but only a few minutes' walk to the heart of Sorrento.  Baci, Franco, Andrea e Professor Vicenzo.  [Baci to you, too. Perfect Place to Relax and Explore the Italian Coast

by Sharon

Our family (husband and two teenage boys) stayed at Luna for a week in June, and we absolutely loved it. Sant' Agnello is beautiful and friendly. Lots of great restaurants and the ocean within a few blocks walk of the house. The house itself was so charming. Beautifully maintained and landscaped, it was private, comfortable, and quiet. A great retreat but convenient to the train station (the lines goes to Sorrento, Pompei, and Naples) and the center of town. We enjoyed the pool and the view from the rooftop. Luna was a perfect place to relax and explore the Italian coast, and Italy Perfect was a really convenient way to find such a charming place to stay at a reasonable price.[Delighted you enjoyed your stay. Truly Italian Experience

by Katie F

For those wanting a truly Italian Experience, Villa Luna is for you!  You feel like you are coming home, when you step into the tropical gardens and enter the inviting little villa. This is not for those expecting all of the creature comforts of a modern hotel, but everything you need is within walking distance.  Markets are just up the road. Several local restaurants are nearby, from the reasonable Moonlight, to the dining experience of Marinella. Definitely experience sunset at the nearby plaza overlooking the cliffs of Sorrento with a limoncello or cappuccino. Take a swim in the ocean, and relax at the nearby beach at the bottom of the cliffs. It's a hike into Sorrento, and after a full day of shopping, we took a cab back. Giovanni, our taxi driver, took us to our Italian roots in Calabria, on a tour of the Amalfi coast, and shopping in Naples. He was such a pleasure, always smiling and informative, and never rushes you.  [Thank you so much Katie! The Italy Perfect Team]

We Cherished Our Time There!

by Joan W

Four of us had the absolute pleasure of enjoying this beautiful oasis in Sant'Agnello (a 30 minute walk from downtown Sorrento) earlier this month.  We truly had our own private home here with private entrance, gardens, patio, roof deck and pool!  The home was very well appointed as well. The neighborhood offered several very good restaurants and spectacular views of the water and cliffs.  We had easy access to the Circumvesuviana train with a short walk and used it to travel to Pompeii.  Grocery stores were also within walking distance.  We would highly recommend Luna to those looking for a comfortable respite after a busy day of seeing the many sites that Sorrento and the surrounding area has to offer. We cherished our time there!  Thank you!! [Thank you so much for your review, Joan. It is a charming place, isn't it? We love it, too. The Italy Perfect Team]

Outstanding Experience We Will Treasure For Years

by Kathleen and Bob Schneider

This was our first time using Italy Perfect - they were perfect in all respects! No issues and we will use them again in the future. My wife and I spent a week at Luna and loved it. I have read all the previous reviews and won't repeat all the positive experiences. We were able to appreciate all those and more. When those gates open and you walk into paradise it truly is an exhilarating feeling. Very comfortable, we had all the comforts of home and the amenities we needed including a flawless wi-fi system. It took us a couple of days to get comfortable with the local geography; to figure out how best to get to/back from Sorrento (local C EAV bus - official stop right outside Luna); find our favorite restaurant (Ristorante Il Capanno); and enjoy the beautiful gardens and pool just outside our back door. We ferried to Positano, Amalfi/Ravello, Capri quite easily and enjoyed the nonstop shopping in Sorrento. By the end of the day, however, it was a real treat to make our way back to our private retreat - Villa Luna. This was truly an outstanding experience, one we will treasure for years to come.

Property is Quite Lush and the Rooftop Terrace is Sunny.

by Trudy & Frank

Luna is a lovely villa on a small estate in Sant'Agnello. It is well furnished and the new wifi worked quite well, but there was no English channel on the TV except for one late night show. The property is quite lush and the rooftop terrace is sunny. We found the stove top very tricky to light. There is a food store in Sant'Agnello and several nice restaurants too. The location is convenient to Sorrento for shopping and dining. The train to Pompeii(Scavi) was easy and the hydrofoil to Capri was very fast. The trip down the Amalfi coast was spectacular and it is a good idea to hire a driver. We are repeat customers for ItalyPerfect and we highly recommend them. They are responsive and provide great rental choices.

Lush Grounds & Spectacular New Pool

by Travel Bug

Villa was set in lush grounds & a spectacular new pool has just been put in. We parked our car & never used it while in Sorrento. A favorite spot was the terrace right down the block overlooking Bay of Naples. We hired Giovanni to take us down the Amalfi Coast. a great driver & tour guide. It is an easy walk to the middle of Sorrento & local buses can take you most places. We took the ferry to Capri & Naples. We enjoyed a tour of Michaelangelo Mozzarella Factory, a little expensive but something we would not do at home. We would definitely recommend Italy Perfect

Visit the Limoncello Garden

by Linda B

Luna is beautiful and suitable for 4 adults. It is a nice distance from Sorrento main town, and the restaurant opposite is very nice, as it the one on the top of the cliff. Make sure you visit the limoncello garden in Sorrento (you walk past it on the way). It is the best ever! There are a lot of mosquitos.

Charming, Clean, Conveniently Located

by Dale and Patricia Givens

The villa was charming, clean, conveniently located, and had most everything we needed.  And, the garden was absolutely beautiful.  We had a lovely stay.   We would have liked better WiFi reception (very limited--didn't really work well at all), and maybe some satellite TV for news or DVD for a movie in the evening, but we survived without it.  Regardless, we really enjoyed our stay. June was a great time to visit this area. A small car or moped (preferred) is recommended to get the most out of your experience.  There is much to do and see during the day, and Villa Luna provides a peaceful retreat at the end of the day.  We highly recommend it.  Enjoy!

We Felt Part of the Neighborhood

by Virginia

We found the accommodations comfortable. The bedrooms could have been larger. We would have liked a dresser in our bedroom. The bathrooms were spacious.  We used the kitchen for breakfast and light meals.  Unfortunately the wi-fin was unreliable. We felt part of the neighborhood and enjoyed the experience. I would recommend Italy Perfect.  It was relatively easy to make our reservations and plan our trip.

Highly Recommend

by Happy Trails

Overall, Luna was an above average experience.  The location was excellent, as it was easy to get everywhere.  The villa was a perfect size for 2-4 persons (either a family or two couples).  All the convenience of home was available and a quick stop at the local grocery store allows you to stock the kitchen with snacks or the ability to eat at home. Immediately next door to the villa is a little coffee shop named, Blue Island.  The coffee was fabulous and the owners very accommodating.  You could take the coffee to go and bring you cups back later or the next day. Highly recommended restaurants include Moonlight (5 minute walk), Zi'ntonio (Sorrento) and Antico Francischiello (just east of Sorrento). If you are staying for a day or two, no car is necessary.  If you are staying longer, a car is highly recommended, in order to visit the nearby attractions, such as Pompeii, Vesuvius, Positano and the Amalfi Drive.  Just keep in the mind, the driveway is very narrow and our Hyundai i40 (Sonata for North Americans) was a tad large and you will need skills to park. For anyone looking at spending some time in the Sorrento area, I would highly recommend a stay at Luna, over any hotel.

Brilliant

by Jeff & Margaret

The villa is brillaint complete with roof terrace and surrounded by established, 125 years old semi-tropical gardens. Sant'Agnello is about 25 minutes walk from the centre of Sorrento, but there are local (good value) restaurants. The nearest shops are in the town centre of Sant'Agnello about 10/15 minutues walk. Taxis in Sorrento are very expensive (@25 for trip from Central Sorrento to villa Luna) The Circumvesuviana train system takes one direct to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples for @4.50 (return). There are boats to Naples which are quicker, but considerably more expensive. We have reccomeded Itlay Perfect in the past and will continue to do so. We have now stayed in four of your properties and each was great.

Loved It!

by Credacats

Just spent a week in this villa and myself and my friends all loved it!  Location - Firstly if you are worried about the location being outside of the centre, don't be! Sant'Agnello is a lovely suburb and much quieter than the centre. It has its own station and the walk into Sorrento town is easy, all being on level ground and taking no more than 15-20 minutes. There are also plenty of restaurants around with lovely sea views. The villa is behind a gated entrance very close to the sea. Hosts - The owners live in the building detached and next door; they don't intrude on your privacy. The main windows do not face onto their property but your own garden space further keeping your privacy. We used their recommended driver Giovanni to get to and from the airport. He was very good and after a flight it was worth every penny.Villa - To me the villa seemed larger than the photos with higher ceilings. We all loved the villa and would definitely stay again. All the rooms were of ample size and clean. The garden is rather shady but that is a good thing in hot weather and it is beautifully laid out. However, if you want sun there is a sun drenched roof terrace I used many times. It was also lovely at night looking at the stars. No sea views but these are only a minute's walk away. It was lovely having evening meals in the garden. We spent 50% eating in and 50% eating out which helped our budget. We found the beds comfortable and everything seemed to work. All in all I can highly recommend this villa for smaller groups. I personally felt it was a very sophisticated adult place to stay but I know families are also welcome. I used Italy Perfect to book this holiday and they were very helpful.

Terrific Apartment & Location

by Mitchell

we were a family of four...terrific apartment and location.  Small kitchen but eating out is preferred so a minor issue.  Apartment is a twelve minute walk from Sorrento center.  Area restaurant (Moonlight) is excellent; downtown Sorrento is Basillica or Buco..both fantastic. Great apartment for couples, girlfriends, older, ...not young children.

We had an enjoyable stay at Villa Luna. The grounds were simply beautiful and the Villa, although very petite for 4 people, was clean and well furnished. You will be able to get to downtown Sorrento easily by bus. There is a cute cafe just down the street on the point over looking the mediterranean sea.
