Location

With a prime position in the historic Oltrarno area that boasts great restaurants, cafes, artisan workshops, the Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens, you’re just one block from the Ponte Vecchio — the world famous pedestrian bridge lined with gold jewelry shops. The neighborhood abounds with ateliers that carry on the traditional Florentine crafts of jewelry making, gilding, antique furniture restoration, marbled paper, and bespoke leather goods.

Interior

Carina is a cute little hideaway, quiet and private with an impressive terrace that is nearly the same size as the apartment itself. The living room is tiny but comfortably furnished. There is an efficiency kitchenette for light meal preparation.

The bedroom also opens to the terrace which makes this a cheerful and bright room. Note that there is very little closet space. The bathroom is en suite.

The famous Medici family's home, it is a large museum with many fascinating galleries. It opens to the large Boboli gardens that may be visited separately. I the origin of the Vasari Corridor, an enclosed, protective "bridge" between the palace and the Medici offices at the Uffizi.

Florence's famous and glorious cathedral, Santa Maria del Fiore, beautiful to gaze at since the 1300s. Don't miss and, if you can, read about -- then visit the amazing dome by Brunelleschi erected without scaffolding!

A great piazza of Florence. The shape reflects its role as the forum in Roman times. Now it has fine palaces and a triumphal arch and colonnaded sidewalks. You will see street artists, impromptu musical performances and a colorful merry-go-round. Glitterati in the fancy cafes.
